High school class of 2016

@Woandering‌ actually probably not going to start until 2 months before the actual test. I took a practice exam and got a solid 3 without studying so i should be good.

I’m on spring break right now and it’s so boring. Can’t believe I have another week of nothing

Hey some advice please. Next year I’m required to take AP Bio and AP Physics. Then I have a choice between AP Lang, AP Calc BC, APUSH. I could decide to take these AP courses or I could decide to take their regular non-AP counterparts. My question is which ones should I take AP, and which ones should I not? My school doesnt encourage taking more than 4 in a year.

Thanks, any advice appreciated

Which subjects do you enjoy out of those or anticipate the most?

@TeamRocketGrunt I’m self-studying AP Lang (no class at my school), AP Stat (easy and relevant to my interests), and APCS (too many stupid pre-reqs). I don’t think I’ll be able to take on another, especially since AP Cal BC isn’t famous for being easy, like Stat.

@afroninja26 how can you be bored. I have so much work to get done. Good luck with self studying!

@PoisonIvy20 I suggest all except for APUSH. Both APUSH and AP Bio are a huge amount of memorizing, so taking both at the same time is going to be extremely stressful. Lang shouldn’t be too hard. It’s just building skills. You practically must take Calc for AP Physics, and they go hand in hand anyway. Good luck!

@Woandering‌ : I think BC’s difficulty is over hyped. It’s actually not that hard.

@TeamRocketGrunt It probably won’t be. But since I can’t take APCS or AP Lang at school, and I’d rather self study Stat than BC, because Stat is obviously easier, it makes more sense to take AP BC at school. I would love to replace Lang with BC if possible though. Lang seems much harder.

With all this talk of self-studying APs: why do you guys do it? I know a lot of the top-tier colleges don’t accept AP credit, so i’m not sure if paying the $95 fee to take the exam would even be worth it, if you’re already talking APs at school.

@Almondjoy7 Everything I chose, I actually want to study. That said, I also need some by the end of junior year to apply for colleges in the UK (a happy byproduct is the National AP Scholar for US colleges, too). Also, self-studying can show your ability to learn things by yourself, your ability to show initiative. (Although, nowadays it’s probably worth less, since everyone does it. Except in some areas and some schools, like mine.)

The exam is basically proof you can show initiative. For me, it also keeps me on schedule and motivated. Without an exam at the end of the year, I would procrastinate until college. Otherwise, you can just do a little self studying for the sake of learning the subject.

@TeamRocketGrunt‌ I’m taking IB Math SL Yr. 2 next year, which is basically the equivalent to Calculus I/AP Calc AB. Would you recommend “self-studying” for the AP Calc BC test instead of AB?

@Animefan1998: definitely. The only addition to the BC exam is series/sequences, integrals of parametrics/polars, arc length, and integration by parts and partial fractions. You can knock everything but series/sequences out in a day for each one. Series/sequences, for me, required four days to learn.

IMO, as far as the top-tiers are concerned, take APs to get in, but don’t expect college credit. AP is definitely falling out of “vogue”- the feeder schools that pioneered with HYP to develop AP fifty years ago no longer teach AP, for the most part. If you can’t get a 5, I wouldn’t self-study.

Did anyone finish the APWH material?

@LikeThis‌ Is your avi of Sohui (Wonder Girls) or am I just being delusional? I’m half-guessing just because of your username, but yeah.

Obviously I’m currently procrastinating on my work, but whoevencareshashahahahakillmenao.

I literally haven’t at all started studying for any of my APs, and the only reason I get As in the classes despite never studying is because (1) the tests are curved and nobody in my classes studies and (2) heaps of extra credit… and I have to work on projects and stuff for another 1~2 weeks.

Cram for 3 APs (euro, ush, calc) from beginning to end in 2 weeks yes I can.

LOL Just realized that sophomore year is almost over! We’re almost halfway there guys!! #:-S #:-S Hope everyone is enjoying their Spring Break (well I am) and if not on break then enjoying life, and High School, It really is passing us by. sigh

@shinchang‌ Her name is spelled Sohee, not Sohui.

School for me ends on June 24th. Spring break until Monday the 21st. 3 weeks of studying for AP exams. Then I have the SOL exams (exams needed for promotion in virginia), and then it’s June. A week of review, then comes final exams time. Then 2 weeks of extra credit in most classes (guessing), and parties at the end of the year. Can’t wait for the summer!

@shinchang @Animefan1998: Yes, it’s Sohee! Props for being Kpop nerds. :)

@Animefan1998‌ Lol I do all my fangirling in Korean ./shot (Koreans represent!) No idea how to spell names in English. My bad.

Hi guys. Just found this board, I was wondering where ours went. I’m Peyton.
