@IsometricKiwi: Alright, thank you! I’m just still trying to get a grasp on how this whole Olympiad thing works, haha.

@afroninja26: I’m jealous that you’re taking classes that you love! I have to take a lot of required ones still, so I don’t have a lot of leeway with electives and such.

I have 4 IB classes (Doing the IB Diploma - English HL, History HL, Biology HL, and Math SL). I’m going into year 2 of Math SL, which is Calculus I, so I’m kind of planning on learning a bit of Calculus over the summer. I got a list of 6 books for English that we’re going to read throughout the year, but it’s recommended to read at least some over the summer, so I’m doing that. I also have French 3, and also TOK and Band. Now that I think about it, Junior year might not be super hard.
Oh yeah, and I’m panning on doing some prep for the SAT/PSAT and the ACT this summer.
The only class I’m kind of worried for is Math, but I’m pretty good at Math for the most part, so it shouldn’t be that bad, especially since this year in Pre-Calc, I had an A and 2 A-minuses. I’m not sure if I should worry for History though.
Most of my ECs will most likely be Band-related again, but I’m going to try to do a sport or 2 (maybe basketball in the winter and/or track in the spring if the music for the musical next year isn’t insane like this year for Legally Blonde).

I’m trying to get more math credits for college. I signed up for a course on Coursera to help me prepare for possibly self studying AP Calc throughout the year. I can’t take AP Calc next year due to pre reqs and it’s too late for summer classes. I most likely wouldn’t be able to fit it into my senior schedule either. But I’ll be taking the same course I signed up for during the school year. The main difference is that my classes last the entire year so I’m learning basically the same material in less time. I don’t know if it was a wise or good decision or not. Felt kind of random too.

I’m looking towards International Relations or something a long those lines. I’m also interested in pre med and possibly becoming a pediatrician. Still contemplating which path to take.

@letmeseetheworld
Leaning to some sort of variation of PPE (Politics/Philosophy/Economics). Might also do pre-med and wind up doing cardiothoracic or trauma surgery through one of the Navy or Army programs.

Also interested in some sort of career through special operations forces, like winding up at the FBI, CIA or NSA

@Apollo11 @letmeseetheworld I am leaning towards pre-med, hopefully eventually ending up as a cardiologist. However, I would also love to become an operations manager or something along those lines for a big tech company such as Google, Samsung, i.e. (I love technology but I’m terrible at coding and programming)

Either physics, biochemistry, or biomedical engineering. Planning to go into a PhD/MD program after undergrad. If I major in physics, maybe a PhD in high energy physics with an MD.

Computer Science or Finance or hopefully both.

Just got back from HOBY Norcal, and I don’t care whether it looks good on college apps, it was amazing. I’m actually a little sad to be home, but excited to use the internet again.

@letmeseetheworld: I’m actually in the same boat as you! I want to go into pre-med, but also International Relations. I must just double major. =P

@alzhao
I did, and I really really doubt that it is legit or worth it in any capacity.

Also, TEAM USA!!! I was screaming so hard during that match; great win lads!

Also, @Woandering, I wanted to thank you for the help on Oxbridge

Lastly, @letmeseetheworld, the FBI/CIA/NSA work that I’d like to do is pretty cool; ideally, I’d like to get into clandestine operations or engage in certain high-risk scenarios. So far, I’ve been preparing by learning German, Spanish, French, Persian (Farsi and Tajiki), and Hindi while also prepping for some sort of SOCOM work.

@alzhao
That’s what I’m thinking. Altidore will probably be back though; the leg spasm can be treated fast enough. Also, all a US victory would need would be a good game from Tim Howard and some decent play from the attacking front (The Ghana game was strewn with poor control and tactics from the US)

@Woandering: hehe, definitely will do if I get famous. ;)

@Chrysanthemum14: Hi there, and welcome! =)

@alzhao: I think I just got it, I’m not sure how legit it is. Pretty envelope though.

//

So, I just found out about this whole Siemens thing. I REALLY want to participate, but no one really wants to make the time commitment and I’m so unsure about what I’d do/if it’s even feasible, since I’m not currently doing any research. Thoughts, anyone?
