High school class of 2016

I’m planning on taking both the SAT and the ACT this fall - I’m trying to get somewhat of an early start on testing, so I won’t have to cram next fall with college applications. My goal is 2100+ on the SAT and at least a 30 on the ACT, which will be a challenge, but I have several test prep books I’m looking over extensively, and I’m going to take some practice tests.

I’m considering majoring in engineering, but I’m going to see how my AP physics class goes this fall (I’ve never taken physics before! :D) and I think that will give me some more insight on what I want to do. Females are under-represented in STEM-fields, and I want to change that statistic! :)

@Apollo11‌: I haven’t been keeping up with the World Cup. How’s it looking so far?

@Almondjoy7‌: When you’re a senior, you can submit an individual project; team projects are only required if you’re not a senior. Next month, I’m starting a cell bio project (completely new project for me; I’m mostly experienced in chemical engineering, since that’s been my research area for the past year or so, but it should be fun), and I’m going to take the 13/14 months before the ISTS and Siemens applications become live to work on it. I plan to submit the cell bio project over the chem eng one (cell bio one has a better shot, I think) individually when I’m a senior.

Two years left!!! AHHH

Next year is soooo important, and so exciting!

@TeamRocketGrunt‌
The USA won a great game against Ghana with a killer strike at the end of the game and though there was some controversy in other matches, it is incredibly dramatic and exciting.

Also, I just aced my AP Physics B finals, so I’m really happy about that. Only 3 days left of school (1.5 technically)

@Apollo11
I got a 96 on my AP Physics B final exam, what did you get?

113 (100 without curve, then the curve boosted it further)

Got stood up by an interviewer. Okay.

@Apollo11‌

Psh. What was yours like? Mine was 8 questions, but most had a million parts in them, and it was a whole lot of writing instead of actual physics problems. I ended up writing multiple pages on it.

You guys are so lucky you don’t live in New York. We have to take Regents which are no where near the curriculum level of the honors and AP classes

@Smrtical‌
That was roughly the same as my test. We had 10 problems and 90 minutes, but we had a formula sheet and we could choose 8 questions for the teacher to grade. However, the test was incredibly difficult, like the kind of test where having the formula sheet and the ability to omit 2 questions from grading didn’t really do any favors. I ended up doing a lot of crazy chain equations and it took quite a lot of time.

@TeamRocketGrunt: Are you finding a new mentor for your new project?

@Apollo11: Did you see the Russia vs. Korea game today?? I can’t believe Korea was actually able to score that goal, that was just the goalie’s slip up.

@Almondjoy7‌
Yeah. My new project doesn’t fall under my current mentor’s lab scope, so I won’t get much funding (if any).

@Almondjoy7‌
Personally, I was happy. Igor is a great goalie, so I don’t think it was purely a mess-up (i.e the shot confused him at least a little) and I was rooting for SK.

Also, for the non-soccer inclined 16ers, Spain just got eliminated from the World Cup (effectively) and the reigning champ has lost every single game in this world cup so far.

Lastly, I’m really hyped for USA vs. Portugal. I’m hoping for a draw or a win, which isn’t impossible, as that would mean, if Germany beats Ghana, Portugal would have to beat Ghana by like 5+ goals in order to get the US out of a qualifying position. Also, if Portugal ties the US in points, the US will still advance, since the goal difference is -4 for Portugal right now

@Apollo11‌ YESSSSS. I’ve also been reading about how Ronaldo is being advised to sit out the remaining games of the World Cup, probably giving the USA the best chance to advance out of the group (behind Germany of course).

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/worldcup2014/article-2661588/Cristiano-Ronaldo-limps-training-Portugals-World-Cup-goes-bad-worse.html

@Apollo11

I plan to start keeping up with the World Cup starting with the US/Portugal match. I honestly wasn’t expecting Spain to do this badly, though. Thank FSM for Ronaldo’s injury; I think we have a pretty decent shot at advancing.

@alzhao‌
Apparently, some witch doctor in Ghana is claiming responsibility for Ronaldo’s injury. I lol’d.

@TeamRocketGrunt: Thank you for answering all my questions, lol. I’m currently looking around for mentors in my area and such, so I was just curious as to what you were doing!

@Apollo11: I agree, I suppose. It definitely seemed at least a little confusing.

Also, I watched the Spain match yesterday and was totally surprised that they’re completely out. Chile played well, and attempted several other goals other than the 2 they got that were really close.

I’m also really excited for the USA vs. Portugal match!!

82.49% in algebra 2 honors. Any ideas on how I should ask my teacher to round it up? Should I offer to do an assignment

@afroninja26: I don’t really think there’s a huge difference between an 82 and an 83… it wouldn’t hurt to talk to your teacher, though.

Just ask and laugh about it; downplay it so they say yes.
