@emilymclean1 That’s so weird – I don’t know why, but for some reason I was looking up college running time cutoffs earlier! (I’m not a runner but my older brother is, though he’s not quite fast enough for college standards.)

Hey guys, I’m currently taking the following classes:

Band
Honors Physics
Precalc CP
AP Biology
AP US History
Honors English 11

I also do science team and drum line. I am very interested in science and I’m able to take Honors Environmental Science online next semester (my school doesn’t offer any ES classes). Do you think I’ll be able to manage all my courses with the additional online one? It’s through VHS.

Oh my goodness, I took the SAT this past weekend and it went so well. I feel very good about it. Also, I’m predicting getting at least a 215 on the PSAT. I’m ready for this crap.

According to the practice PSAT I just finished, my CR score is supposed to drop six points :-/

I double-checked the math, but…what? How?

Took PSAT for the first time last year and got a 218. Not sure what I’m going to get this year, but I better not fall asleep (like i did last year).

Just added Cornell to my list of colleges. Their AEM major is amazing.

@Woandering
I need to make a college list. I know I’m applying to a few Ivies/top tier ones, but I need to add others. Even if I get into an Ivy, I’ll prob end up going to a place that gives me a good merit scholarship (don’t qualify for finaid woooooo).

@TeamRocketGrunt w0000 same. -_-

@TeamRocketGrunt Sorryy. Luckily for me, my parents are fine with anything. I’m piling on reaches (I’ve got 5 for now), but I really need good matches (only 2).

@smrtical That’s how I felt about the SAT this weekend too, until I started browsing the CC October SAT forum. Ended up with -2 in CR, -1 in Math, -2 in Writing, and much less confident.

@Woandering
My parents said that if I get into an Ivy, they’ll pay for it, but idk. I’d feel super guilty tbh.

@TeamRocketGrunt I would, too, if I didn’t know that my entire extended would feel so happy if I went there, and my parents would be super proud. I’d feel guilty not going (which I might if I get into both CMC and Harvard, unlikely as it is).

So it looks like my parents haven’t started the permanent resident application process. Which means, there’s no point in me taking the PSAT. Y’all have fun tomorrow.

Crying over that reading section. Aiming for 215+ tomorrow.

@tacoperson123 is an excellent example of the phenomenon by which we have thousands of incompetent teachers who think they’re excellent yet decades of scholastically indigent pupils.

Was that enough PSAT practice for y’all?

Anybody thinking of Harvard should look into the case of Philip Streich. It’s a sad story – but worth reading.

I read that, actually, @purportedlay --that’s sad to hear about, even if it’s been 2+ years.

As far as college list goes, about half are reaches (statwise, more than anything) and the rest are high match/safeties. But I found out my top instate (a relative safety) isn’t accredited in what I want to study, so reevaluation time maybe?

And today, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt sent summer program love.

@ThatPurpleKoala What did you mean by that last statement?

Good luck on the PSAT tomorrow, guys!

Was pretty easy for me. Ended up skipping the last grid-in math because of time limits though.

I’m predicting a 229 or higher.
