I love Latin! I’m a year ahead in my school, as I took it in middle school, and I can’t take it next year because there are no more levels I was thinking of doubling up on AP Chem and AP Physics… any feedback?

That seems incredibly difficult.

@emtfxc - I’m doubling up on AP Chem and AP Physics 1 this year, and it’s really not bad at all. I’d advise against doubling up with Physics C, but Physics 1 is actually relatively easy. AP Chem is alright - not easy, but also not sure why everyone complains so much about it, because the content is manageable.

Thanks guys!

@glasshours CORRECTION: AP Chem is manageable if and only if you’re not lazy/a procrastinator :P

No school tomorrow! Yay for one in a billion storm/rain days in California.

I’ve been asking the same question on like 3 different threads, but I’m gonna ask it again lol.

Ya guys think cutoffs gonna go up or down compared to last year for the PSAT?

Any fellow NJers on here? You understand the pain with PSAT cutoffs. Think that a 225 will make it or will the cutoff jump to a 226 right on time for me?
Thanks guys

@Woandering You California kids get off for rain days?

@alzhao

Yeah, cuz the drought is so bad, we gotta go collect water on rain days. But seriously, there’s a predicted huge storm starting tonight through tomorrow night, and it’ll be dangerous enough that the school has to close for the day. We’ve been praying for this all day.

@Woandering wow sounds terrible, hope all is well! [-O<

@SippingCoffee
Thanks. It shouldn’t be too bad, although we’ve never had this before. I’m just hoping wifi won’t go out as well.

@ThatPurpleKoala - LOL yeah. Actually, I’ve been learning units the night before tests, so I probably shouldn’t be talking…

@woandering what part of cali are you in? We still aren’t getting rain.

@LordBendtner
Bay Area, so about between Central and Northern California? We got tons of rain over the past week, and then there’s this storm. We haven’t got any rain from this storm yet, though.

Did horrible on my PSATs… 70 CR, 76 Math, 68 writing (2 bubbling errors on writing…) I will probably only get commended in my state.
Will this be bad for colleges if I don’t get finalist? My SAT scores are 40 points higher than my PSAT scores, and I had a horrible curve in math (-50 points for one question wrong, got a 750). I think I will retake my SATs. If anyone has any ideas on how to improve, that would be greatly appreciate.

As of now, I am looking at specialized STEM schools which are pretty competitive. I’m worried I won’t get into any of them since you need high scores. I only got a low 700 on my chemistry SAT II (which I’m planning to re-take fall of senior year prior to AP Chem), and I just took my math sat II which I’m worried I didn’t score well on. Hopefully, if all doesn’t end well, I will just go to my local safety colleges (BU, BC, Northeastern which you only need a 1800 SAT to get in).

Also, is anyone else super overwhelmed? I’ve been procrastinating on everything, including research, recs for summer programs, etc. Too much small, insignificant stuff occupies my time like dumb volunteer hours for NHS, mandatory service meetings, or mandatory music rehearsal. I also want to drop some of my AP classes since they have too much grind work (Economics, which I despise). I regret taking my courseload, it seems like some people carry a lighter courseload are rewarded. I feel that if I could taken a lighter courseload, and colleges wouldn’t have known a difference. Now I’m forced to take classes I hate - if I drop them then it will look horrible on my transcript.

I’d like to focus more on things I enjoy doing, like research or biology, rather than participate in boring drill activities.

@TheGreatCatsbyx

Definitely overwhelmed over here, too. I’ve fallen a few weeks behind on my AP Computer Science self study, barely started on applications for summer programs, and I am getting annoyed at orchestra rehearsals. It’s junior year though, and you’ll definitely be rewarded for all of it. If you think Econ is definitely useless, just drop it (if it doesn’t appear on your transcript either). IMO Econ shouldn’t be too bad, at least for AP, although your teacher may be different.

Definitely in the same boat regarding Theology (required here too) and history, but we just gotta pull through. Cannot wait until college.

By the way, why do you say you need only a 1800 for Northeastern?

Yeah that’s my mistake. I’m pretty sure you need around a 2000 for Northeastern and BC, and a 1800 for BU (based on speculative evidence, haha so legit). Luckily, I’m eligible for one of BU’s local scholarships for a full ride so if I don’t get into my top choices hopefully I can go to college debt free.

“A minimum SAT score of 1850 (or ACT score of 28) and 3.5 GPA are required.” Someone from my school got this scholarship from BU with a 1900 SAT, so obviously this scholarship seems like an attractive option.

I stayed home sick today.
