My college advisor had no idea we could use SAT fee waivers for SAT Subject Tests. He said I was the first to ever ask him for a fee waiver to take SAT Subject Tests. I’m one of two students to have taken SAT Subject Tests in the past 3 years at my high school, apparently.

Competitive: Only the top 3%.
We have 4200 students. None really go anywhere besides Texas State University, Texas A&M (I actually wouldn’t mind going there, though–I really like it), University of Texas, or, as the majority, community college or straight to work.
Overheard some kids talking about college essays, and it hit me that most kids think of “applying to college” as, like, almost just a school project. Write one or two essays casually, get some other materials to turn in, attend college that accepted you.
Meanwhile, there’s the rest of us who’ve been treating college admissions like a four-year arms race. My parents are convinced I’m going to get cancer before this process is over.

In English, I was the only one who submitted my work! I have no clue how these kids will keep jobs. (Most they the workforce, a few attend the CC with 15% graduation rate).
To be honest, I didn’t know much about the concept of college until last year. I mostly thought, “hey, I guess I have to go to college so I won’t be making $7.25 an hour all of my life” and decided to go to the University of Texas at Austin. Which was a mistake. No offense to UT, but I could never go there. I’d rather go to Texas A&M.

My first proof of application is due October 12th and I don’t even know how to get recommendation letters on there. Daaaang iiiiiiiiiit.
