Last year, the grade above me did phenomenally and we had 4 people go to Harvard, 2 to Princeton, 1 to Yale (we got HYP holy crap), 2 to Penn, and like 5 to Cornell. 14 people going to Ivies in one grade is kind of insane, even by my town’s standards. My grade is competitive, but I’m not sure if we’ll be as successful, at least in terms of Ivies/prestige.
Dang it. My punishment homework for calculus is hard. :((
Punishment homework? @XoXdreamerXoX It’s homecoming at my school and it is so bittersweet. The parade and football game were last night and the dance is tonight. It is just so weird thinking it is the last one. Senior year is basically just firsts and lasts.
tfw the guy you like is in your AP lit class and on the cross country team and all you want is to be asked to your last homecoming ever…
Well, no one got a 100 in our class and everyone kept making the common mistake of forgetting u’ on our trig derivatives, so she assigned homework that was 10× harder than the original.
I’m dying.
Should I edit my activities section so all of them relate to my probable major (something in STEM)? Right now, it’s really scattered – I have a few things listed like Model UN and public speaking, and I have leadership positions in all of them/have invested significant time in them, but I’m not planning on continuing those in college. I could replace them with more minor things like hospital volunteering and science tutoring, but I didn’t spend as much time on those.
It’s not just science + Model UN, it’s more like…science + speaking + cultural activities + debate + music + business
Also, sorry for the double post, but we’re allowed to change our testing/activities sections for different schools, right (i.e. submitting one application won’t lock the Common App section for all other schools)?
Probably going to submit my first apps tonight!
Submitting an app won’t lock the Common App for other schools. Good luck!
Hey guys, What is your strategy to come up with the early apply-to list? Is it mostly reaches? A mix? On an average, how many schools are you applying to early? I just want to collect stats. It should be fun.
For my part, I’m deciding between 1 reach and 2 likely publics or 2 reaches and 2 likely publics.
I’m applyng early action everywhere that offers it (4 of my 7), I’m applying regular to the others. It’s a good mix (1 reach, 1 match, 2 safeties).
Should you be using EA for safeties?
I’m doing one public for which I’m an auto-admit (so, safety, I guess), one match, and four reaches.
I’m applying early to two reaches and a safety (public).
@Optimyst I’m applying EA to a safety for my own sanity, tbh. I would feel so much better to have at least one acceptance by December/January and know that I am at least going to college in the fall. A lot of public schools also offer merit scholarship consideration when you apply early, too.
Most of the reaches I’m looking at have restricted EA, where are you guys finding 4 reaches for EA?
My EA is my dream school. It is a match/borderline safety. Is anyone else feeling how bittersweet this year is?
I’ve applied to 1 of 2 of my schools.
My top school is public, but not awful. My GPA is their average, but they have high acceptance, so it’s a match/safety.
I applied to 1 Christian private, where I’m above average, although I recently discovered it’s very strict. (No R movies, a bit much). So, I guess it’s an unnecessary safety.
I’m applying to 8-9
4/(1-2)/3 mix.
R/M/S
I’d be happy at my safeties.
Applying to 5 of them EA. All but 3 are state schools.
Hey, guys, long time no see.
I am applying to 15 schools: all 9 UC’s, 4 competitive CSU’s, and 2 privates. I am kinda shaky about applying to the two privates since I have to write an additional essay and supplements. The only reason I am applying to them is because I just wanna see if I get into USC and a safety private. Not particularly interested in either of these schools and my mom is urging me to apply very broadly.
Should I just ditch these privates and stick with by 13 publics?
Okay, so the SAT website says, “you have until Oct 12, 2015 to take advantage of your four free score report credits.” Does that mean until midnight tonight or the end of tomorrow? I’m having problems and I’d really much rather work it out with my college adviser than mess up by doing it on my own.
