@letmeseetheworld: When it says downloaded, does that mean the school downloaded the red letters?
@Mochis1 downloaded means the school has printed your app and its under review. I don’t think they’ll have access to the rec letter until its submitted. But don’t worry, one of my teachers hasn’t submitted mine either. I’m just curious to know when their deadline is.
I’ve been reading this site since middle school, but the day after I submit my EA app it’s like… wow, CC, why do you still exist?
In all honesty, though, people love to bash CC elsewhere on the Internet, but without all the info and advice on here I would’ve never even had a shot at the colleges I’m applying to or known how to pay for it. It’s opened up quite a few opportunities for me, too… and it feels comforting to know that there are people even more neurotic than I am, ha.
sent my ED Cornell app : ))))))))))) the first time i can relax in like 2000 years
where will it say “downloaded?”
I’m just happy cause November is usually the fastest month
Dying because so much to do.
Well, my teachers laid off on work for the week, but SAT Subject Tests I’m not prepared for are coming up.
@IBGuy101 I haven’t finalized a regular decision list because my parents basically want me to go to NYU if I don’t get in my ED school, but so far I really like NYU (obligatory but it’s still a great school), Johns Hopkins, WashU in St. Louis, Northwestern, UCB/UCLA (OOS), Tufts, and maybe some Ivies just because (Brown/Cornell/Columbia)!
Has anyone had success in getting scholarships yet?
@baller55: If you go to the “My Colleges” section on your CommonApp and then click on the “Recommenders and FERPA” section, you scroll to where your teacher recommendations are and it will either say “downloaded”, “started”, or “submitted”.
@Chrysanthemum14: Sadly, no. I didn’t get to be an EA QuestBridge finalist, so I’m looking for other scholarships as of now.
@XoxdreamerXox: Oh god, I don’t want to take the SAT Subject Tests again, but my mom signed me up. I’ll be taking Math Level 2.
@Chrysanthemum14 I have $14,000 at Texas A&M if that counts for anything.
@Mochis1 Taking Math 2, Physics, and US History. I’m doomed. I don’t even know half of the physics material but it’s the science I know most about (AKA…I’d make a 300 if I took bio or chem).
My mom & I met up with my GC about colleges. He said out of his 60 students, I’m 1 of 4 who’s applied to a college. I feel proud!
@Mochis1 so what does it mean that it says “downloaded” Im so curious
Do you all think the admissions office at MIT will understand if I explain that I’ve only learned half of the material on the SAT Physics Subject Test and don’t have enough knowledge of biology and chemistry to take those and score above a 400? I don’t know what to do anymore. Studying all of this is difficult.
Maybe I’m just dreaming, but I really hope they can understand if I e-mail them. I won’t learn a lot of this until next semester!
@newjerseygirl98 Congrats. I think at my school it’s about 50/823 because my calculus teacher made application proofs a grade, so if we didn’t give her a confirmation e-mail from some form of college, we got a 0 as a test grade.
Had a bit of an existential crisis and a panic attack. I was walking down to my Physics classroom when I suddenly realized that I don’t want to spend the rest of my life doing anything Physics related. This especially hurts me considering I had wanted to be a Computer Engineer since I entered high school. I really hope this problem dissipates and that it’s just a spur of the moment thing, but I’m just no longer into engineering.
Any advice would be appreciated.
@AMan236 Don’t worry. It happens to all of us at some point. Right now you still have a chance to change your mind, but if I were you, I’d apply as a computer engineering major if that’s what all of your ECs and courses have been centered around. Unless you’re going to a large, public, state school, you shouldn’t have a problem switching majors.
Regarding your problem with the Physics test, I’d say study a lot. If you don’t do well, I’m sure your other achievements can outweigh it. Then again, I’m not familiar with MIT’s regulations on this matter. Do you have to report the Physics Subject Test? Plus, remember, take a deep breath and tell yourself you can do it. Calm down and ease your nerves. Walking into that test nervous is what will shoot you in the foot. I know it’s hard to do so, but take a couple of deep breaths and get some fresh air.
@XoxdreamerXox: What test scores/GPA did you need to receive that $14,000 scholarship from A&M? And are you a Texas resident? I just submitted my A&M app last night and mailed off the stuff this afternoon.
@baller55: I believe XoxdreamerXox said that when it says that it is “downloaded”, it means that the college has downloaded your application and will begin the process of reviewing it.
@AMan236 I have to take one science test that’s mandatory for my app. I took biology freshman year, chemistry sophomore year, and AP Physics 1 last year. I’m currently in AP Physics 2, AP Chemistry, and AP Biology. The problem is that I don’t remember anything from freshman and sophomore year science classes and therefore am starting from scratch in these AP classes. Physics is the one I’m best at and the only one I have a chance of at least answering half the questions right. The SAT Subject Test material is split between AP Physics 1 and 2 and therefore I’ve only really learned half. I’m so screwed.
I might cry.
