@Mochis1 National Hispanic Scholars get $14,000. National Merit Scholars get $40,000.
@Mochis1 Don’t worry, though. A&M is preeetty generous with financial aid.
And yes, I’m a Texas resident. Auto admit and therefore already have my “I’m going to be an Aggie” banner.
@XoXdreamerXoX : Don’t worry, the Physics SAT has a notoriously huge curve. I think most people walk in without knowing a quarter of the material anyway.

I need to make time to research more scholarships.
Hey guys, I have a question. Do your teachers include a homework category for gradebook or is homework not even factored in grades? One of my teachers does not give any writing homework to do so the only things in my gradebook right now are 4 quizzes and 1 essay… My grade is super low in that class and I dont know what to do…
^Usually my teachers include hw/quizzes but my calc teacher treats the class like a college class so far we only have 4 grades which are all tests. Only tests are included for major assessments and class participation for minor but for an AP class where 75% is from tests, it’s really hard on a student
Question for those who have taken the SAT Lit test. How do you do well on it?
@QueenN22 If it’s an AP class, I can understand because AP is supposed to prepare students for college. But I’m in a regular English class, not even honors English or AP, and I find it so unfair
@misschoding I wish my classes were more like that. HW is hurting my grades rn
@kuriosmind I did terrible but I gave up after the 1st poem so
True but if HW wasn’t graded I would never do it and fail calc
@LordBendtner Lol, can’t you just do the homework though?
@misschoding I suppose
Took Lit and got a 740 (critical reading score was 750+).
-I did not omit a single question, not even the ones for which I could only eliminate one or two choices.
-I read the easiest passages first and saved the most difficult one for last.
-For the poems (and half the passages were poems with outdated language that made my head swim), obviously don’t interpret things too literally
Got a 790 on Lit when I took it in June last year! I honestly didn’t really do anything special to prep for it, except maybe look over the old Princeton Review book my sister had for it. Like cityonanocean said, don’t omit any questions (the curve on this is terrible and omitting even two will bring down your score) and try your best to answer them correctly. Because it’s less straightforward than the regular CR, use the knowledge you have about poetry and other classical texts you learn from your English Honors/AP classes and apply it to the test. Good luck!
@XoXdreamerXoX for physics, read the sparknotes guide on it for review! really helpful, even if u didn’t learn half the stuff, u can learn the basics quickly with the guide and get some points
I’m just using some stuff I found online and my PR book. I’ll also bug my physics teacher the rest of the week. If it doesn’t go well, I’ll know it wasn’t meant to be.
I would do a countdown for EA decisions but the last thing I want to do is get my hopes up for nothing.
I need to find a way to distract my thoughts.
On the bright side, I only have to deal with 5.5 more weeks of AP Statistics.
5 weeks and 5 days until decisions (approximately…I’m guessing based on previous years) for MIT.
This is off topic but at this point idc bc !!!
For anyone who knows about Art supplements, I created a portfolio with a mix of drawings and paintings and photos,
but when I’m uploading it to Princeton, it makes me choose ONLY ONE category (drawing, painting, photo) ??
I put a lot of time into each one and I guess I could just make some more but WTF DO I DO OMG
Should I just upload it under “Other” or what ? :-SS
@misschoding As of this year, it’s against my school’s policy to count homework + participation in our grades for all classes. We get separate achievement grades (based purely on tests/quizzes) which go to colleges, and we have internal “effort” grades (participation, homework) that determine eligibility for school trips.
We also can’t/don’t get extra credit for any classes.
