High school class of 2016

@AcceptableName ahahaha, yea

Congratulations to everyone who’s received acceptances to various schools! I’ve gotten into Cal Poly SLO and Sac State but I’m still waiting on UCSB, UC Davis, UCSD, Northeastern, Tufts, American, and George Washington. It’s so strange to think that I’ll hear back from all 7 schools I’m waiting on in the next month and that two months from now I’ll know where I’m going. My graduation is almost three months away and with acceptances starting to come in and other decisions so close it’s just starting to hit me that I’m almost done with high school. It’s a very strange feeling.

My school is one building, but we have trailer classrooms outside.

@Acusio Our school is locked. I thought every school was.

@kuriosmind Students live at your high school? Is a boarding school?

@infiniteCircle So far, I got into Eastern Nazarene (a bad private school, no longer interested in) & Montclair State.

my school is a completely open campus? They get really mad if we leave during break/homeroom and security prowls the parking lot to make sure no one drives off but we can (and do) go off campus for lunch, and some teachers let you go off campus during class. It does lock after 4:30, though. I’ve locked myself out of the school several times during rehearsal.

Does anyone think MIT will release decisions at 3-something (i.e. 15:xx)?

@infiniteCircle - Waiting to hear back from those schools, too; good luck to you! I’ve gotten into my state school, USC (Southern California, not South Carolina), and Georgia Tech so far; if it were just down to these three, I’d go to USC.

@kuriosmind - Yeah, I totally understand you. I’m interested in majoring in CS and minoring in English, but I got into both /really late–this year–so I didn’t mention either on my apps. I /did apply to a few engineering schools, though. On my apps, I either put undecided or applied mathematics/statistics with an interest in minoring in music because 1. I did a research project with statistics, 2. I won a bunch of music competitions and sent music supplements to most of my schools.

Sometimes I wish I had been more transparent because interviews and essay-writing certainly would have been much more fun, but I wouldn’t have a chance at any of my schools had I done that, so mixed feelings.

@newjerseygirl98 It probably depends on where in the country the school is.

@glasshours I’m it an GA Tech too, what do you think about it. I only initially applied becuase it was top 10 CS but the more I look at it the better it seems. I have yet to tour though.

@infiniteCircle @glasshours I don’t comment on other peoples threads but both of my parents went to Georgia tech for engineering and they loved it. I’m not sure if you care about salaries or anything but they both got jobs that pay very well! They also went to Clemson.

@newjerseygirl98 Yes, it is. :slight_smile:

@glasshours sigh I don’t understand why this process favours applicants who have decided on their interest early on in high school. Through my experience in my new ECs, I feel that I’m just as capable as other people who’ve been doing it for so long, so my only disadvantage is the limited time. Well, it’s in the past now, good luck to us with our schools!

@adiacs No problem. Thanks for the info. Have you seen the campus? If so, how is it?

@infiniteCircle

I live not too far from GA Tech. And I went there for SAT prep (kinda a waste though since I took the ACT instead). It’s a very nice looking school. Pretty big…Really big. It’s inner city though and I hear stories about people getting robbed of their phone while they’re walking at night. But I mean, that can happen to you anywhere. Oh and the campus is big.

I also got in Tech EA, but it’s not my top choice. I’ll definitely go if my top school rejects me.

Also, their Physics 2 course is notorious for being hard. My uncle (a MechEng) took it 4 times apparently.

But it’s a beautiful campus. Did I mention that the campus is big?

How big is it? ;p

@AMan236 what is your top choice?

Umich, right?

I just got my third rejection in the past month (not colleges at least) and I wouldn’t care very much except they were all so badly written? Like come on. At least pretend to let me down easy. It stings a little lol

@infiniteCircle I haven’t been in the campus but I been around the surrounding area and even though I’m not much of a city person, I really liked the area!

hi all

Although freezing temps scare me.
