High School Class of 2017

To be commended by NMSC is nationwide and not by state right? My state is SUPER hard to get NMSF for (New Jersey -_-) so I’m just hoping to be commended lol

At my school, the first 100 sophomores who sign up get to take it and it is open to all juniors. My school charges $20

^thats because we have to fit all the students taking it in the cafeteria because it is the only place that fits everyone. I don’t understand why they don’t rent out a big church gym like they do for the AP exams. They’d have the money since I go to a school with upper middle class people but they cram all of us into the cafeteria so it’s easier for the proctors to watch everyone. Do your schools do that? Taking an exam on a cafeteria table sucks…another reason to dread the 28th…

@athenanv13 Thankfully my school doesn’t try to cram us all into one room. They have all of us take it in different rooms, and we’re with the people that are in our English class. At my school it’s mandatory for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to take it, but it’s free for everyone.

Same here @MissRB0021 , except we take ours in homeroom.

These PSAT jokes on twitter though…

wait, the PSAT for October 28 will be a different test right?

Can someone predict a score for me if I got
R: -12-15
W: -3-6
M: -8 - 9

@Cornbread1999 I assume so.

I did not make a smart choice…I’m taking the ACT right before the PSAT. I thought that since I have fall break I could study then, but I barely have time to go through all the material even if I’m studying all day. I suck at the critical reading section for the ACT. I can get through 3 passages only missing 1 or 2 questions but I can never make it to the last passage. I’m such a slow reader!

@athenanv13 My school uses the main gym as well as regular classrooms for the PSAT. I was lucky enough to be placed in a classroom this year.

@greeneggsandsam9 There are so many Herminia jokes circulating. I was reading some of them and uncovered a short fanfic story about her and Thad. LOOOOL.

Now that I’m done with the PSAT it’s now time for me to focus all firepower on the SAT.

Is it worth downloading the SAT Up app? It seems like an interesting and effective way to study since it will enable me to prepare the SAT anywhere through my phone, but I don’t know if it’s actually helpful.

Hi everyone! Nice to meet you :slight_smile:

Hey @BethanyD! Welcome to the class of 2017 thread! :smiley:

@BethanyD Welcome! I love your avatar! Is that Disneyland Paris?

I looked up some reviews and decided to try out SAT Up. Besides, there’s no harm in trying it firsthand.

@athenanv13 thankyou! :smiley:

@Greninja yes it is! I totally loved this ride xD sure - there’s no harm! Just take full tests and review your mistakes - that’s really how to study for the SAT.

Is anyone else here taking the November SAT?

@dsi411 I am. Definitely not ready for it yet though.

@dsi411 I’m taking it on either December or January (or possibly both, I want to take the old SAT at least once).

@Greninja I have used both SAT Up and ACT Up for the last few weeks. Their premium membership is pretty expensive, so I haven’t gotten it yet. I do the daily exercises, and they’re definitely helpful. I do it on my phone, so the smaller screen can be a little more difficult to work with. That being said, though, it’s a really great resource.

Does anyone have any more practice ACT and PSAT reading sources? I’m out and I’m really struggling in those sections. I used up all of the khan academy ones, the official sat study guides ones, and the red act book ones.
