High School Class of 2018

“it is generally our experience that taking tests more than twice offers diminishing returns.” - Harvard FAQ

How many times do you guys plan on taking the SAT?

(BTW I am taking the new one in June. :frowning: Spent my whole summer studying for the old one too :frowning: Last time I was on we were discussing PSAT such. Uhh, I am changing topic.) I

@frazzledazzle Happy Birthday

I play the flute, oboe (my main instrument), and I’m learning the english horn!! My poor oboe is broken right now and has to go to the shop :(.

I hope everyone’s breaks were great, I had to go back to school today which was miserable. Sorry that I’ve been totally MIA, I was at a winter fencing camp and then had 2 competitions. When I finally logged in I had 238 messages to come back to! Man you guys were busy.

Wishing everyone a super great 2016! At least you can make a 5 into a 6 for the year really easily am i right?

@frazzledazzle @mamaba I play the Cello and sing in choir.
@Tedalkfan I would only take it twice, maximum three times. I might choose to only take the ACT though because The College Board is starting to piss me off. I think the ACT is easier for me, but I don’t really know.

@frazzledazzle Happy birthday!

@Tedalkfan I would love to take it once and get it over with, but if my top choices allow superscoring, I’m not against taking it twice or at most three times if one of my sections (math :-< ) needs an improvement. That’s assuming I get a decent score in the first place, though. x) If I just plain out do bad/okay I’ll take it again for sure.

Does anyone else wish they weren’t getting rid of the writing section on the new SAT? I’m terrible at math, so I would have loved to have two strong areas. I guess that isn’t fair to math/science-oriented people though.

@frazzledazzle happy birthday!
School was both ugly and interesting. I feel exhilarated.
I play the viola.

Are you guys 15 1/2 yet? I recently “turned” and I WANT TO GET A PERMIT ASAP but I don’t really know what to do lol

Just joined this website and I’m part of the 2018 class. What’s this thread about?

@Medachimasen Welcome to the thread! We just talk about our daily lives, what’s happening in our classes, and anything related to college that is relevant to Sophomores.

@Hamlon That’s cool, I just started school today. I found it fun, but a lot of my friends think I’m weird for that. I guess I like learning things I like learning, meaning I HATED SPANISH TODAY but chem was awesome

We better cherish how this thread isn’t super busy for now. In the near future, I would imagine it would become very active.
Also, I play the trombone and baritone :slight_smile: although, I’m starting to really dislike it…

@Medachimasen Do you mean that you came back from break, or that you actually had your first day of school today? o.o I thought all US schools started in the summer.

@mamaba I must have fixed the 5 to a 6 at least four times today, and yes a lot easier than a 4 to a 5.

I’m actually going to bed early tonight, and get some rest. (it is 10:36 where I am) Good night y’all.

@Hamlon Same! I’m both a perfectionist and I constantly procrastinate. That is probably the source of my constant anxiety as well. :)) :((

@frazzledazzle You’re welcome and hope you had a great day.

@Tedalkfan I plan on taking the SAT twice and the ACT at least once. My counselor said it was best to take both at least once due to superscoring.

@LeopardFire sorry for the confusion, i just came out of break. Also for anyone who wants to know, I play alto saxophone

@mamaba Sorry about your oboe, but at least it wasn’t your elbow :)) We blew up over the break, which explains all the messages. You might want to turn some of your notification settings off.

@Hamlon The ACT, by most, is usually easier.

@LeopardFire I didn’t know they were getting rid of the writing section on the SAT. Well that will certainly make it easier for me, as I am a math/science-oriented person. That was likely going to be the hardest part for me.

@raffie I’m 15 1/2, but I’m likely not getting my permit, or my licence, for a while. My parents don’t want to pay $100 to take the online Driver’s Ed course. It doesn’t matter since I won’t be getting a car until I’m 18.

@Medachimasen Welcome to CC! @Hamlon 's basically sum up everything. I wouldn’t recommend going through all of the other pages, that’ll take you a while. And no, you’re not weird for that.

@HelloThereHola I would think the same. By junior year, we’ll probably be getting 80 messages a day.

@ak2018 what state are you from cause here in Cali my driver’s ed only cost 15 bucks i finished it over winter
break. I turn 15 1/2 on April 2nd, so looking forward to that

It’s 1:11 and I’m still up and I have to get up at 6 and its the first day back. I can already see how my semester will go lol

@BucketsUCSC Virginia :(( I turned 15 1/2 on November 10th

Semester ends in 2.5 weeks. I feel so worried. Also, my sleep schedule is messed up.
