High School Class of 2018

lol a letter from harvard doesnt mean harvard wants you.
Sorry to let you down, but you guys do realize that these college emails don’t affect admissions at all?
They are just emails by an autosender based on your PSAT score.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/150412-college-mail-what-does-it-mean.html

on the other hand, I never heard of many of these classes before! There are honors language courses? What’s calculus 1 and calculus A??? Dual enrollment and single semester classes???

also I unsubbed from the college mail and it’s still coming in like 20 mails a day. it’s really annoying -___-

@thetex I know it doesn’t mean that they want me, but it is an indication that my PSAT score is around where I want it to be. Besides, you might learn about a school you haven’t considered before through their emails. That makes it worth it to me.

My school practically has honors for every language class except for Latin I, Chinese I, and Ancient Greek.

Guess who has a bio midterm tomorrow and hasn’t started studying for it yet? ¯_༼ ಥ ‿ ಥ ༽_/¯

I think I’m going to join the M.N.H.C. or whatever it is right now and pull an all-nigher.

@thetex Honors language courses? That’s just a foreign language class for honors students. it depends on your school I guess. Calculus 1 is the same as AP Calculus it just depends on where you take it from. Dual enrollment means its through a college and you get both college and high school credit for a single class. Single semester classes you only take one semester. This could be because of block scheduling or not.

I really love online classes. I’ve taken two from a local college for dual enrollment and it’s great. I just have to do the assignments and make sure I know the stuff.

@ak201 Do you have any recommendations on what courses to take on there? I’ve looked around on the website and dont know which course would be cool to enroll in

@LeopardFire Welcome to the M.N.H.C. or the S.N.H.C on regular school weeks. Once you join, it is hard to leave! lol
I most likely won’t be going to bed till around 1 or 2 so I will be on here till then.

Oh my gawd people, I checked my Infinite Campus. My English teacher just graded my To Kill a Mockingbird Essay and I am so happy! I got a 99%!! I had a B in the class because I did very poorly on another assignment because I just procrastinated to the max on it, yeah it really hit hard that time I got a 63 on it, anyways, I calculated that I needed to get at least a 98% on the essay to get a A-, a 92.5. This made me so worried. Because of my laziness I though I was going to miss out on making all A’s. The essay was the last thing graded besides the midterms, and it brought my grade up to a…92.65!! I will make all A’s this semester and I am super excited! You have no idea I am feeling right now, it is just…amazing! :-j <:-P

Now back to studying for some midterms for tomorrow…

@HelloThereHola Go to: https://www.edx.org/high-school-initiative It has a lot of AP classes you can sign up for and enroll in for free. If you want schools to accept the credit, you would need to pay $49 for a certificate. But I plan on doing the AP Exam. I’d recommend taking anything really. Your educated by professors from some really good colleges like MIT.You also have a forum where you can discuss questions. Everything is done in modules (units) and you take a final exam and if you get an 80% or above, you get the certificate.

Also I have a question. If I take an AP class online, like mentioned above, is it a good plan to take it in the summer, review the course once a month and then take the AP exam and get at least a 3.

@frazzledazzle Yeah they’ve really thrown us for a loop with the redesigning of the PSAT/SAT since there was (and still is) not nearly as many materials to study for. Heck no one actually really knew what the PSAT was going to look like.

@tonyk16 Congrats! =D>

Is anyone participating in M.N.H.C ?

Me @apple1893

Also, couldn’t I just pay for the AP exam myself and still take it at my school even if I didn’t take the course through my school?

@ak2018 Yea you can. Just talk to AP services

@apple1893 Never would miss a meeting in my life.

@ak2018 I believe you can, but my school does not really advise it, and would much rather you take it online if they do not offer the AP course you’re interested in. It is kind of pricey, but I guess it’s worth it in the long…

Which hw are y’all doing, I’m doing english

@thetex I just did it on my secondary email. I never use that email, so I only log on to it if I want to see what colleges have contacted me - without having to be bombarded with emails on my primary account.

@LeopardFire Your school teaches Ancient Greek?!? That’s awesome! My school only teaches French, Spanish, Chinese, ASL 1 & 2, and I think Latin. I don’t know about Latin. I think the teacher retired last year.

@tonyk16 That’s awesome! My teachers haven’t put anything in all weekend.

@Madeline25 That’s true. I’m just using this year’s PSAT score as a raw score to base my studying off of for next year’s PSAT and SAT.

@apple1893 Not me! I finished my English take-home exam, so I’m going on Tumblr then bed. I’m going to study for History tomorrow, since the exam isn’t until Wednesday.

@ak2018 THANK YOU!!! I have been looking and could never find a good free online course. I tried using MITOpencourseware, but it’s so confusing.
