High School Class of 2018

Since everyone is posting their schedule (I don’t know why??? I’m really confused???), I’ll post mine lol
Math 20-1 IB
English 10-1 Pre-IB
Science 10-1 Pre-IB
Sports Performance 15
Social Studies 10-1 Pre-IB
French 10-9Y IB (9Y stands for 9 year and it’s for people who have spoken French for at least 9 years [ or fluent ])
Career & Life Management 10 (or CALM) [semestered]
Phys. Ed 10 [semestered]

Here, in grade 10, we can only take general science. We have to wait until grade 11 to branch out into Physics, Chemistry and Bio :frowning: However, I’m taking Physics 20 in the summer so hopefully, I’ll be done with physics by the end of grade 11. I HATE PHYSICSAOISOIAWOIQWQ. But yeah. We also only have 4 blocks a day (periods??) so classes are 75 minutes long and I die inside every time.

@sewin2music Psychology is actually really boring. I don’t know about AP Psychology but the course here is so tedious and I dropped it as soon as I could and replaced it with CALM.

I’m kind of mad my school replaced AP chem with the Dual Enrollment. Maybe I shouldn’t be though. Idk. Usually colleges like AP better since it’s more standardized.

I’ll be officially registering for courses tomorrow. Hopefully my teachers will sign off on my requests. :expressionless:

@averagebean IB track? seems rough lol, btw people are posting their schedules for next year, not the current year.

(I stalk this page a lot, but don’t usually post much, idk why, so hi guys!)
Since we’re on the topic of schedules for next year…
I’m doing full time running start at a local university so my planned out schedule is:
Quarter 1:
Multi-variable calc
General chem 1
General physics 1 + lab (calc based, engineering track)

Quarter 2:
Physics 2 + lab
College composition
Linear algebra

Quarter 3:
Physics 3 + lab
Spanish 3
US History

all these classes are at college, so I’m kinda terrified especially for 1st quarter, but I’m also excited
I also had to make a back up schedule for school in case something happened:… its a lot lamer
APUSH
AP Lang
AP Physics C
Engineering 4
Advanced Orchestra
DE Spanish 3

hi! @snowfairy137 that’s crazy, you’re pretty much going to school at college. What about quarter 4?

@gormar099 yup thats the plan
Quarter 4 = summer break! The state won’t pay for summer classes anyway

Well I’m finally going to finalize my schedule next week. I was going to use our online course request system our county uses but it’s not letting me pick the classes classes I want. It’s putting me in the classes my teachers recommended me for. Lol I still find it funny how my English teacher wants to me to do AP English Language and says that I would be squandering my talents. I mean, I’m really good at English, but Science is more of my thing. Here’s my schedule once again:

Engineering Explorations I/Robotics
AP Psychology
AP Chemistry
U.S. and Virginia History
Functions/Trigonometry (Pre-Calculus)
Spanish II
English 11

Anyone taking similar classes?

@ak2018 you should do AP Lang, especially since you only have two other APs

I’m leaning toward (lol it changed again
AP Calc AB
AP English Literature
AP Chemistry
AP Physics or AP Economics
IB Spanish SL
Medical Interventions

I’m taking:

AP Physics
AP Bio
AP English Comp
AP Stats (because I’m genuinely interested, NOT because it’s an “AP Lite”)
AP US History
Honors Precalc
Office/Library Work/Tech Desk (If there’s no work to be done or if I finish early it’s pretty much an off period.)

I’m really worried about my lack of Spanish III, some people are saying I shouldn’t take it if I’m not interested but others are saying it’s really good to have. None of the colleges I’m looking at require it from what I’ve seen.

@nyuhopeful44 I could, but honestly I don’t want to do any outside of class reading or writing that many essays. In my English class, we’ve only written two out-of-class essays and two in-class essays. If it wasn’t for that, I’d definitely take it. I’d just feel it’d be way too hard.

Okay, I officially submitted class requests today!

Here it is:

Criminal Justice Operations 3
AP Capstone Seminar
AP English Language & Composition
Weight Training 1 | Principles of Food Prep
Pre-calculus Honors
AP US History
Physics 1 Honors

ok I just found out crash course is making a crash course physics next month and this is the best news i’ve received in months. I’m not even taking physics again for another year and a half or so, but I am so excited.

I submitted my course selections yesterday:

APUSH
AP Lang
Honors Latin III/IV
Pre-Calculus
Chemistry
Financial Literacy / Intro to Computer Science

Latin is weird at my school since you take the same III/IV for two years in a mixed classroom, but the culture/reading material alternates each year. That basically means all of the grammar will be a review for my senior year, which is nice. I kinda wish we had AP Latin but I would probably fail it so I should be happy I have an excuse not to take it. :stuck_out_tongue:

@gormar099 Woah, that’s early. School course selections don’t start for us until June.

Also, are any of you practicing for the SAT? I did my first SAT (the one with the 2400 scale) just to try it and I scored 2000 no prep which isn’t too bad. However, I do plan on scoring perfect when I do the PSAT in November and the actual one in my grade 12 year.

@averagebean yeah I took the last one.

I am very very glad to be done with the SAT this year.

I scored a 2330 on the last January administration after October and December failures.

760 reading, 800 math, 770 writing (10e, -2 MC)

Good luck to all of you on future standardized tests, whether you fail or not, whether it is SAT or ACT.

@gormar099 really? That’s super exciting, hank green is the best!
@averagebean just curious, how are you “planning” on scoring perfect on the SAT?

@averagebean

No, I’ll probably start prepping over the summer for junior year to take the new SAT. I am planning on taking the SAT Biology Subject Test this June though, I want to buy a review book soon.
