High School Class of 2018

@thetex Wow, congratulations! 2330 is a very impressive score. And, thank you ^^ scoring high would definitely be a plus and being an Asian student, it really brings me at a disadvantage when it comes to universities and standardized test scores.

I attended WLC this past summer in Chicago and I will tell you, it was totally worth the cost. It’s like state seminar times 1,000. I had girls in my group from Taiwan, Turkey, and Beijing, China. I made SOOO many new friends. Not to mention the speakers were amazing. At first I was hesitant because you are literally spending 1,000+ dollars, but I now have gained so many memories and great experiences. It thought it was so much better than spending money on a car like I could have. If it’s not too late/you still have the opportunity to go, I highly suggest it.

@averagebean no SAT prep yet but I took the ACT and got a 30. My class will be the first michigan class taking the new SAT junior year instead of the ACT, so I’m more familliar with the ACT

@snowfairy137 I’ve been practicing and practicing by writing those practice SAT tests you can find on College Board. During the break when I have time, I’ll probably do one everyday. I’m also going to buy some review books and have been memorizing 20 vocab words a day. I do plan on scoring a perfect score. If not, I’m won’t be too disappointed^^

You shouldn’t try what I did.
I really wanted to get everything done with in 10th, to make time for a fellowship in 11th grade.
So I prepared since 7th grade for SAT, spending about 4 years to get a score in 10th grade, that could have been easily achieved with 1 year of work in 11th grade. But I’m glad it’s done anyways.

@LeopardFire I’m taking it in may along w/ math 2… should I start studying already?

ugh math 2… i really need to take that test but I’ve been procrastinating

Hey does anyone know how to program Loops using Visual Basic/Studio? I have an assignment for class and I’m having a lot of trouble with this one problem. The problem is:

Your parents have purchased you a car and you have to pay them back. Write a program where you enter the amount of money you need to pay them back and when you click a button it shows in a list box the decreasing amounts of money you owe them until you pay them back.

There are two textboxes and a list box. The first textbox is labeled Amount Owed, the second textbox is labeled Monthly Payment, and the list box is labeled Owed Money.

I have the code but it’s just not working for reason, I just wanted someone to check it and see what I’m doing wrong. Here it is:

Dim i As Integer = Val(MonthlyPaymentTextBox.Text)

    Do While (i <= Val(AmountOwedTextBox.Text))

        OwedMoneyListBox.Items.Add(i)

        i = Val(AmountOwedTextBox.Text) - i
    Loop

End Sub

End Class

Hopefully someone will be able to help.

I got a letter from Stanford for their program in the summer :slight_smile: Woah… their program cost a pretty penny lol

@HelloThereHola I got the same one! I tried to apply for their online program but it was full

what is vandy and uf? @gormar099

vandy is vanderbilt university and uf is university of florida @ak2018

By the way, I might have mentioned this before, but I found this website a year ago that I was planning to use for college scholarships when the time comes. It’s called About Education and they have many resources for students in elementary school all the way to college. It has info on, for college students, how to make the prefect study, how to successfully interact with your roommate, and other very fun articles such as finding 10 ways to make college more festive for the holidays. This link is a for 89 scholarships that end at the end of March. They usually have between 50 and 100 scholarships per month ranging from $30 to $30,000, so it’s pretty cool. http://collegeapps.about.com/od/grantsandscholarships/tp/college-scholarships-march.htm

Oh ok thanks @gormar099

Does anyone know any free summer programs? I want to apply to programs but I dont know what’s out there. Not all of us are rich or even middle class too.
