High School Class of 2018

Well, I just sent a text to my now former best friend saying I don’t want to be friends anymore, and I’ve got to say that that was he saddest text I’ve ever written. Hopefully, I’ve made the right decision and we can both move on free. But if we do, I’ll finally be a free man. I just don’t like be tied down to one friend like @frazzledazzle had said. I just don’t want a best friend anymore, especially in high school. Well I just have to wait to what he says, knowing it probably won’t be good, but I’ve made up my mind. Not matter what he says, I’m sticking up for what I feel.

“Gonna love myself and I don’t need anybody else” - Hailey Steinfield

OMG my friend just responded back to me and he understands. I’m free! <:-P <:-P <:-P And if I seem really overjoyed about this, it’s because our friendship has been declining over for awhile and I felt like I dug myself into a whole that I couldn’t get myself out of. Thank you so much for the advice @frazzledazzle !

@apple1893 Why are you taking Math 1 is it just for practice? and when does basketball season end in your state because in So cal it just ended this previous thursday with playoffs this upcoming week(but only for varsity) so my seaosn’s over.

I’m not sure how I’m going to break it to my parents that they need to pay $400 for AP exams… I’ve been saving and I might be able to cover one of them but still…

@ak2018 I totally understand! In freshman year my best friend and I were in IB together but then I dropped out mid year because I didn’t think it was worth it. Ever since then it’s been so confusing!!! When I eat lunch with her and her IB friends she’s really happy to see me but then she doesn’t talk to me, and I’m not really close to any of her friends so I just sit there… This year we sat together in our math teacher’s classroom without the other IB friends and it was fun at first… but then we still hardly talked and I felt like I was just being used for homework help… Now I sit with my other set of friends who aren’t IB, just AP students. I really like it there because I have things to say to them! I still talk to her but I feel like I’m running out of words…

@BucketsUCSC Our season ends next week. We have 2 games left. I am taking Math 1 because my college advisor recommended it, and I think I might do well on it.

@apple1893 what math are you in?

@sewin2music OMG! That’s kind of similar to how our friendship started. We were friends in the 6th grade and had one class together, had one class together in 7th grade, and had 2 classes in the 8th grade. I rarely remember talking to him in 6th or 7th grade, I barely remember 6th grade in general, but we became best friends in 8th grade. It kind of started out as homework help, but then it grew from there. When I ate lunch with his friends, I barely talked and we had nothing in common so I just sat there and ate my lunch. This was back in the 8th grade. Now, I kind of do the same thing. One day, when I have lunch during Spanish class, which is the 2nd of 4 lunch shifts, I sit with people I’m kind of getting used to, but don’t really know. They are all sophomores though. 2nd lunch contains everyone who has a 4th period math or foreign language class. 4th lunch is different. I have it at the end of Honors Chemistry, which makes me very hungry, and I set at a table with people mainly from my Chemistry class. We usually play a card game. We sit right next to the administrators and whenever someone curses, especially when we were playing a game of BS, they would give us the dirtiest look. But I really like where I sit at lunch. It’s fun and sometimes I just go to the library to go on CC and look at my grades! Lol

@nyuhopeful44 Algebra 2 Acc

Lol. Someone just made a Class of 2020 thread. Can’t say I’m not envious of their graduation year. :))

@nyuhopeful44 What kind of college are you planning on going to? Because I would say just take the AP exams that will help you get out of certain college freshmen year classes. If you are planning on going to an Ivy-League school, the test scores might help, but not by much. Just take the exams that will help with your degree. I go to a school where our AP exams are paid for by the school, as long as you’re enrolled in the class. My first choice college doesn’t even take AP test scores into account, only the grades.

@ak2018 That’s basically our 6/7/8 grade only my friends were here friends and we all got along really well!! It’s just that when I sit with IB people I feel like they look down on me because I’m just in honors; I have all A’s but I guess it’s still not good enough for them. I’m still kinda an outsider with my new set of friends but that’s just because they grew up together. I hope it works out with your new friends/group!

BTW: your lunch schedule is CONFUSING!!!

Lol @Hamlon My little brother is in the class of 2020. He has one of the best graduating class years ever! The only thing that makes our class so special is that our class will be the the first to have graduates that were mostly born in the new millennium. The 2019er’s got nothing. Lol

@sewin2music Lol it’s not really that confusing. All of the grades meet together in either the 1st or 2nd floor cafeteria, we have two cafés, during the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th lunch shifts. Our school has 4 periods a day, for a total of 7 classes. One day is called a blue day, the next day is called a gold day as those are our school colors. On blue days, you have 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th periods, and on gold days you have 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th periods. We also call them even and odd period days. 1st period is the shortest class of the day, so we have it everyday. The time you go to lunch depends on which type of class you have during 4th or 5th period. Here’s the lunch schedule:

Lunch 1: 10:14am - 10:44am

 English, FACS, Gifted, Tech Ed

Lunch 2: 10:49am - 11:16am

 Math, Sped, NJROTC, Economics, Business, Art, World Languages

Lunch 3: 11:21am - 11:49am

 Social Studies, Sped, NJROTC, Economics, Business, Art

Lunch 4: 11:54am - 12:24pm

 HPE, Science, Nursing, Performing Arts

1st and 4th lunch are 30 minutes, 2nd lunch is 27 minutes, and 3rd lunch is 28 minutes. So, as you can see, I have 2nd lunch on Blue days and 4th on Gold days.

So you guys think we should go give some advice to the incoming freshmen on the Class of 2020 thread?

i’m president of a chem club at my school, and it’s ridiculous. i’m forced to do everything (like the other officers don’t even show up to the meetings), people don’t participate, and they never respond to any of my emails. whenever i try to recruit people for the club, they all say that they’re bad at chemistry, while there are people flocking toward the biology club at my school. is there some widespread hatred toward chemistry or something? ;-;-;-;-;-;

Also, is any one excited about spring sports season. I can’t wait to start doing track. Tryouts are on the 22nd of February and it’s a really good thing we are back in PE now because I won’t have that much time to practice over the next week. My fastes time in the 400-meter dash is 1 minute and 8 seconds. Hope to beat it this season.

@ak2018 my top choice is NYU CAS, and my stats fall under their averages. And because I have zero hooks (white, straight, female, middle class, parents went to college) I have to do everything I can to give myself an edge. While self-studying may not be much it’s something.

@Muufeen Chemistry is a lot harder than Biology so I know not that many people would like it. Even with all of the cool labs. It sounds like to me that Biology is just more popular at your school.
