High School Class of 2018

I just did a campus tour of University of Michigan and I really liked it! It’s very pretty and there were a lot of cool places to eat, and there were a lot of outdoor parties because of the nice weather

@nyuhopeful44 @tonyk16 I just came back from running at my middle school track and I’ve got say it so felt good being back on the track again. It was getting dark so I only had about half an hour to run, but when I was on that track time seemed so much faster. I ran 400 meters and then 100 meters. My time for the 400-meter was about 1 minute and 28 seconds and my 100-meter was about 20 seconds. I plan on being a short-distance (sprint) runner rather than a long distance (mile) runner. I know those times are a bit slow, but I plan to definitely improve. When I first start track in the 7th grade, I was really fat and couldn’t even finish one lap without stopping and walking to the finish. My fastest time back then was 1 minute and 40 seconds. I have also since improved. At the end of 8th grade, the last time I did track, my fastest time was 1 minute and 8 seconds. That’s when I knew I was I had also done football and wrestling in 8th grade as well so I Iost a lot of weight. I went from 170 pounds to 150 pounds. I’m now at a startling 190 pounds, but that is likely due to me not doing any sports last year and eating a lot. I’ve been fine with my weight for awhile, but I wouldn’t mind losing some at all. I might as well lose it now as a teenager before it becomes harder to lose as an adult.

Anyways, my goals this season are:

  1. Lose weight :D
  2. Get my time under 1 minute on the 400-meter, or at least under 1 minute and 10 seconds.

@tonyk16 I like the idea of taking your times at the beginning and end of the season. I’m definitely going to do that. Also, I wanted to do indoor co-ed track at first (since we don’t have an actual indoor track we’d have to practice outside so, for the most part, it would really have been outdoor track), but I decided to do wrestling instead. But after about 2 weeks, I quit wrestling and wanted to do track, but the coach said it was too late. So now, I’m finally going to do track after two years and, ironically, this season will mark 3 years since I took a leap of faith and started track in the first place and now I’m taking a smaller leap of faith doing track once again. I really can’t wait to officially get back on that track after so long. It’s become a second home to me.

Also if you notice at any time that I’m not CC as much starting on Monday, I’ll either dying of exhaustion, thirst, or I’m asleep as I’m definitely always going to be tired after practice. I’ll probably do what I did back in the 8th grade, sleep until midnight and then I’ll have enough time to do my homework until about 7am. Except this time, I’ll only have until 5:30am. Who can relate?

@HelloThereHola I reread your post and I starting laughing when I read the word “vaping”. :)) OMG I feel sorry for anyone who vapes. To me, they’re not even on the same level as people who smoke weed or cigarettes. It’s just sad.

@ak2018 Oil prices are going down everywhere haha. And, well, I tend to mingle with everyone. Everyone here is from a relatively wealthy family (as we are on the wealthy side of the city) so there’s really no obnoxious flashing of brands (thankfully). To be honest, if you wore a pair of $200 Jordans that you obviously begged your parents for, people would most likely judge you. I would judge too. Those people who made fun of you for not wearing those tacky shoes are idiots. I’m glad you got away from all that.

@tonyk16 Awesome! More people who run track! I went to a sports oriented school abroad in Asia during my elementary years and was in the track program. We trained long and hard on top of our schoolwork. I currently have a time of 12.25 seconds for 100 meter dash (last season) and was sooo close to beating the city record. However, I’ve recently given up track so I’m unsure if I’m going to run this season. I might just do field events.

lmao sorry for double post.

I have noticed have noticed that too! I mean, most of those kids had them, and we only in the 7th grade. My family just didn’t have enough to buy them. Looking back on it now, I wish I went to a different middle school. I endured so much unnecessary peer pressure there. Now I just wear $40 - $110 boots and Sperry’s. I was also made fun for wearing loafers and Sperry-like shoes and colored pants and shorts because they, apparently, made me look “white”. :-< They were just really immature. Like seriously, who cares if my choice in clothes makes me look white. It’s my style of clothing. I never called them out for wearing $200 Nikes that probably won’t fit in 6 months. You do you, I’ll do me, and I’ll continue to slay. So I said peace out to that school, and I honestly miss the teachers more than I’ll ever miss the students.

@ak2018 Sperrys are so classy! They’re quite popular when I was in Switzerland especially in the summer so definitely a great Euro staple. My feet have stopped growing so my parents bought me lovely Givenchy sneakers last summer and I’ll definitely be wearing them for years to come because I love them so so so so much.

@averagebean As you can from my large post above, I also run track. I started out doing field events, such as shotput, as well.

Lol. I’m actually having DiGiorno Cheese Pizza for dinner. Well there goes my exercise for the day. :))

@averagebean I would definitely like to travel to and through Europe one day. And I agree. Sperry’s are so classy, and on most school days, I love to dress to dress classy/preppy.

@ak2018 Track starts in 5 weeks, can’t wait. This year I’m going into the season with a 5:18 mile time and hopefully will finish with a sub five minute time. You are going the love high school track in comparison to middle school. Competition is great!

Hopefully I will @apple1893 I could honestly not wait any longer.

Does anyone here play the piano? If so, what was the hardest piece you’ve learned? Just a random question heh

Well I’m going to Norfolk today. I’ll be gone until around 7pm.

@averagebean I don’t but I kinda wish I did

You track people are fast O.o

Hey guys! So basically, right now I am taking 2 math classes (as a sophomore) because I want to take AP Calc as a senior. I’m taking geometry and algebra 2… the thing is, I was in honors geometry and honors algebra 2, (which for people doubling up, no one takes both honors) and I dropped the honors geometry to regents geometry (non-honors level) because it was so tremendously hard, and it was starting to render my health… I have never taken any non honors classes until dropping honors geometry, and I am scared that it’ll negatively effect my transcript when applying to colleges. I really wanna go to like a top 30 school or an Ivy, but idk if ill be able to with taking the nonhonors geometry class, plus the fact that I took H Algebra 1 freshman year while most accelerated kids take geometry in freshman year. Anyone have advice? BTW, I’m taking H precalc next year, along with 3 AP’s and H spanish 4. Let me know what you guys think!!

@waterfall27 as long as u get high grades you’ll be fine. I’m also taking three APs with honors precalc next year! Which ones are you taking? I’m taking AP Econ AP Chem and AP Lit

@waterfall27 Just get good grades in regents geometry and you should be fine. Make sure to excel in algebra 2 and pre calc

@nyuhopeful44 I’m gonna be taking AP Lang, APUSH and AP Bio!
Thanks @apple1893 and @nyuhopeful44 , but I’m just super paranoid because I feel like the people from my class that I am going to be competing with have a much better chance than I do, so I really hope that one class wont like kill me haha. Hopefully I get into Cornell!!
