Guys, I literally just took my reading SAT test. Before I tell you the score, I just have to say that I didn’t really read the passages all the way through. Because I thought I wouldn’t have enough time, I only read the passage when I needed to look for something, like a certain line. I also had 22 minutes left once I finished the test. I got a 590 on the actual SAT Reading test, meaning I improved my reading score by **80 points in only two weeks! I got a 23 on the PSAT Reading section and now I got a 31/52 on the SAT Reading section. I might decide to do another reading section next week. Maybe I’ll do a lot better if I actually read the passages!
I’m going to Rochester, NY next week! First camping and then the city. I might visit the University of Rochester. I’m not sure if I’m all that interested in it, but maybe visiting the campus will change my mind. Rochester has a large Italian-American population, so I’m excited to be with my people and eat some good authentic Italian food rather than Olive Garden lol. I won’t be back in time for when my AP exam results come out, and I don’t really want to look at them while I’m on the trip in case I failed something and get sad, but I’ll probably be back on the 8th anyway. I’ll let you guys know how everything went!
Hi guys!!! I’m un/fortunately back from my cruise. :(( I had a great time. I left the port in Miami, FL. We stopped at Nassau, Bahamas, Bahamas first where my family did a tour of a chocolate factory, and we went to the beach with the clearest water I’ve ever seen. The second stop was at an island the cruise line privately owned which is Half Moon Cay, Bahamas, Bahamas. My family did a tour of the island. We also snorkeled with manatees. The last stop was at Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands. My mom and I did extreme snorkeling by a reef and a 7,000 foot drop off!!! The last two days consisted of being on the boat with my friends from Club O2 which is for 15-17 year olds. I am going to miss everyone so much on the cruise. I’m kinda sad to “come back to reality.”
In my city we have 4 high schools,8 middle schools and 17 elementary schools.
Are any of you guys going to take online ACT/SAT prep classes?
Four more days!!!
I finally made a CC account yesterday only to find that this thread has been going since 2013? Where have I been
About a month before school starts back for me @-) I still have a lot of summer work to do and two of those weeks are band camp. Pray for me y’all. On the bright side, Demi released a new song Body Say! Slay mama
Is anyone a part of a full-time dual enrollment program, or even heard of one?
@maybefuturedoc Yes. This past school year I took 4 college classes through a local college.
@HelloThereHola how was it? I’m doing it for my junior year (and hopefully senior.) We take college courses on the FIU campus every morning and then finish our high school grad requirements in the afternoon.
Hello lovely young kiddos, I am a mom here. I am asking if any of you guys can weigh in on DECA and Academic Decathlon or Quiz bowl experience. Thank you guys and hope your summers are awesome!
@maybefuturedoc I’m doing a full time dual enrollment program next year and senior year too, only they call it running start where I live and the college classes can count as credits I need to graduate high school.
@VANURSEPRAC Sorry, not me. Also, do you happen to be a nurse in Virginia? I just looked at your username and thought you were. My father is also a nurse.
I just finished my AP English Language Summer Assignment! Into the Wild was such a good book! Chris McCandless is kind of like me too. We were both raised in northern Virginia and we even lived in the same area. He went to high school in Fairfax County and was on the track team in the 1990s. He will not be forgotten!
We played Capture The Flag in PE and it ended in a tie 1-1. The HPE 1 class got the first point, but after the rules were modified, we started winning. It was actually pretty funny. The two rules they modified was that there were only meant to be there people guarding the jail and they have to stand 10 feet away from the jail and that there were no safe zones, meaning you could get tagged anywhere. Once that “no safe-zone” rule went into effective. All of those freshmen started running scared. Two minutes after the rule was put in place, we cornered them into their own base. It was honestly really funny. We were like lions cornering their prey. They were legit huddled around their base like a bunch of scared mice. We’re playing Capture The Flag again on Friday.
@ak2018, no I am a Nurse Practitioner in the VA health system in Texas and proud to serve our veterans.
I am really proud of all of you guys. what great heads are on your shoulders.
@VANURSEPRAC I did Science Bowl in middle school!!! It was super fun and I would do it again if my high school (I went into a small private school for high school) had it available! I would recommend it for sure!
Hey guys. I just finished Into the Wild on Thursday and I was thinking of some possible themes that I could use for the timed essay. My first, and main, theme was that Chris McCandless, the main character, did not want to live a life of societal conformity. His yearning for an adventurous life comes from his innocent childhood ambitions and dreams that were somehow not deterred or dismissed during his adolescence. He wanted to live a life on the road as a way of protesting this conformity in which people are so wrapped up in their own lives. I’m just trying to form the theme here, but I feel I’m close.
@VANURSEPRAC Oh, I thought the VA in your username stood for Virginia. Common Virginian mistake. I’d also like to say thank you for doing your best to take care of our vets! My dad is actually also a nurse here in Virginia. I believe he works at his hospital and as a home aid for the elderly.
Also, thanks for the compliment. Our parents have definitely helped in keeping our heads screwed on tight.
