Hey everyone, so I’ve been away from this site since the end on June because of my internship and my summer class. Basically my internship is going well and am half way done with it so, yea. And my summer Statistics class at my local college is soooo much fun! Though, Amazon screwed me over with my textbook because they gave me a used access code!!!
@apple1893 Is statistics a math heavy class? I know that it is considered a math class but I’ve heard that it is a lot of writing and less math. Just want another opinion on it.
@kassh4 Its a “different” type of match. The type of problems are more applied with different type of formulas and such. As for writing, the problems are ALL written. I would say it is math heavy but not as heavy as calculus. I say this because there are calculations going on but the amount of solving for variables are limited because Statistics is substitution based.
Instead of “match”, I meant “Math”
Does anybody here know how I can become a tutor year-round, or is that something I should ask my counsler?
@ks2018 What age kids do you want to tutor? My school has a program you apply for to tutor elementary school kids, but for high school I think you just start yourself. I know we can get posters approved to hang in school for clubs and events, maybe you could do something similar for your tutoring services.
@LeopardFire thanks! I was thinking about tutoring either elementary kids or middle and high school level.
So I literally spent $13 on a large cheese pizza and gave the guy a $2 tip. #treatyoself #i’mgoingtoregretthiseventually Is $2 a good tip?
Yeah it is almost 15%
I was prep studying for AP Physics 1 and I look at the pass rate. Bruh, 60% fail the test, with only 4% getting a 5. I’m low key scared now.
@Tobster18 That was similar to the stats at my school. 60% of the students at my school who took AP Physics 1 during the 2014-2015 school year got a 1. It’s why I’m hesitant to take it senior year.
Taking AP Chem next year but I’m definitely up for the challenge senior year
lol same i’m so hype for physics I and chem next year! I’m planning to at least get through everything for Chem during the summer, and I hear that the physics teacher is awesome (my science bowl coach). Very few go into junior year wanting to be engineers but a bunch come out wanting that career and i think it’s because of my physics teacher
@oPhilippos “Very few go into junior year wanting to be engineers”
I guess I am among that few! Are you? :)) I’ve been wanting to be a mechanical engineer since freshmen year. I’m only taking AP Chemistry next year, but I’ll be learning a little bit of Physics from our school’s best Physics teacher through my PLTW Principles of Engineering class. If I feel very comfortable with the Physics in that class, I might decide to do AP Physics 1 senior year. I’m honestly really hyped for that class, as well as Engineering Explorations 1/Robotics, my 2nd Engineering class of the year. Are you taking any Engineering classes?
I might take AP Chemistry but this year is the first time my school will have it
What AP classes are you guys taking this year? I’m taking 4: Language and Composition, Stats, Computer Science, and Physics 1.
Chem STAT or comp sci(I’ll make the decision in September) and Lang
I finished my first jay at my job as a STEM camp counsoler, and it was really fun. Really tiring tho, I had to make sure 17 kids didn’t kill each other.
I’m taking US history, Language and composition, calc ab, and possibly chem
@snowfairy137 Oh my gosh how are you handling 17 kids? You have my respect
I’m taking 3: APUSH, Chem, and Bio.
APUSH is very rigrous but rewarding-92% pass rate
Chem is tough mainly due to bad teacher-lots of 2s on the AP exam. A girl this year got a 35 on her ACT and averaged a 95% on the tests but ended up getting a 2.
Bio I’m not sure about but a lot of people take the class and say its easy, but I feel like 70% of the kids aren’t ready for the AP exam.
