SOMEONE PLEASE MOTIVATE ME TO FINISH MY SUMMER READING! I HAVEN’T FINISHED A SINGLE BOOK YET!
@apple1893 Get to work. The work is only going to get worse as the year progresses.
Is anyone familiar with the so called “Xixigi method” (probs. spelled it wrong sorry)?
This member on this site used to post a lot of useful advice, but I do not know how valid her/his advice is since the SAT has been redesigned and all…
@kassh4 nope
@nyuhopeful44 Did you get your text book yet?
@nyuhopeful44 Sure!
Here is my AP Chemistry teacher’s entire wikipage: https://ophs-ap-chemistry.wikispaces.com/AP+Chemistry
She also teaches Pre-AP Chemistry and has a bunch of resources for that: https://ophs-ap-chemistry.wikispaces.com/Pre+AP+Chemistry
So I should probably be writing my APUSH summer book report right now… but I really hate this book (very conservative slant, I am not very conservative) and all I want to do is stalk the studyblr tag on tumblr
@apple1893 I decided to make a motivational limerick.
There once was a dragon named Steven.
Illiterate children, he loved eating.
If you didn’t read a book
Then prepare to be cooked
Because fire is the last thing you’ll be seeing.
Moral of the Story: Read, your life depends on it! :))
A+ @ak2018
OMG guys it’s August 1st. I go back-to-school in 4 weeks! Summer is almost over and I felt like it was literally June like last week! :((
Anyways, I would like to say to all going back to school this month, me included, GOOD LUCK! This year is pivotal for us. Not only is this the most important year college app-wise, but it’s also a year where we can no longer test our limits. We aren’t sophomores anymore! We no longer have the luxury of saying, “This won’t count against me that much” or “I’ll be fine if I fail this quiz or test because I’ll still have any A” This year, EVERYTHING COUNTS! Every little mistake made can be the difference you attending your state college and The Ivy League. Yes, it’s true! Especially if you’re on the very edge of getting lower than an A. One of my friends, who usually gets all A’s and took as many honors classes as he could, had a B+ on his report card for the first time in 5 years and he, I kid you not, had a mini-meltdown! It was during the 3rd quarter of last year. That same quarter, I had received 5 A’s and 2 B+'s on my report card and honestly couldn’t fathom why anyone would freak out over a B+. He must have been under some severe stress!
My point is, while a B+ won’t likely kill your chances at Harvard, it won’t help them that much either. And it’s true, everybody makes mistakes and everybody has those days (Hannah Montana Reference, yeah I know), but learning from them can limit making the same mistakes over again. So my final point is …
** JUNIOR YEAR IS NO JOKE!
@OneNormalKnight Lol! Thanks! First A+ of the new school year! :))
Summer won’t last forever guys, but illiteracy will definitely last a lot longer! #readingpsa #readerforlife I’m actually currently reading my third, and last, novel of the summer.
Question: How long are you guys prepping for the SAT/ACT each a week? I was planning on doing 6 hours a week for the ACT, but I’m starting to feel like that’s becoming hard to do as I also have my summer school PE class, which takes up a bunch of my time. I’m trying to see if I can raise my score about 6 points by April.
Well, I just memorized seventy-two polyatmoic ions and I start school in like six hours, so it’s already shaping up to be a good year…
@ak2018 To study for the SAT I am taking one practice test a week for 10 weeks before the exam, plus review on whatever skills need sharpening in the week after the practice test. So probably around 4-5 hours? I’m not taking the ACT.
@ak2018 The two posts really motivated me (great poem btw). This year is going to be huge, but it is better knowing that we have the support of EACH OTHER going into junior year! I can’t wait till S.N.H.C starts up!
This Summer, I read one book, “It Gets Worse” by Shane Dawson… It might be vulgar, and non considered an academic book, but it was hilarious and I still can say I read a novel this Summer!
@TP2000 Good job, solider! Keep up those study habits for another 250 days and you should be fine! :)) So, how’s it like being a junior?
@OneNormalKnight Would you mind saying your SAT score range (the score range that you’re getting on your practice tests)? I’m just trying to gauge how much I should potentially be studying, just to see if I’m potentially over-prepping.
@apple1893 You’re welcome for the motivation. Also, it’s perfectly fine that you’re doing a prep course. I would do one too, if my parents would let me. I understand that they want me to prep on my own as an additional lesson on personal responsibility. Definitely can’t wait for the S.N.H.C. to start back up again! Knowing me, I’ll probably start my AP Chemistry summer assignment the night before the first day of school, like old times! :))
@jakejake637 Yes, another Shane Dawson fan!
