I took the PSAT today too. I don’t usually do as well on the reading section as I do on the other sections, but I think I did well on reading today. Writing was surprisingly hard compared to previous tests. I know that I missed one on the math section, but I honestly don’t think I missed any other ones on math. I should be right in the range for NMSF in my state.
@TP2000 Writing surprised me. I was honestly worried about running out of time bc my usual pacing was so off.
I thought that the PSAT went very well today! I felt like the reading passages were engaging enough to stay focused and felt pretty confident with my answers. The writing section was kinda difficult because there were many scientific words that I found myself lost in, but after checking my answers I felt much more confident. The math section was so much easier than I thought it would be! Thankfully, I found that I had plenty of time to review my answers for each section. Overall I feel pretty good about how I did today and hopefully it was enough for NMS semi finalist. If not, I’m okay because I know that I studied the best that I could.(at least that’s what I’m telling my self…)
I thought the PSAT went well! The Reading section wasn’t as bad as I thought (I liked the section about space :)). The non-calculator Math section was harder than the calculator Math section in my opinion. I omitted the second-to-last non-calculator math problem due to time. Calculator math section was easy. I think I did better than last year but I doubt I’ll make the cutoff. It was 214 for Maine last year.
The problems were GOLD! I made some bomb tweets (and will probably make more):

This presidential debate is surprisingly boring (
I put the last calc answer as a decimal instead of percent FML
I got destroyed by the math section, more by the non-calculator part than the calculator part. But I did really well on the reading and writing part, which I’m hoping will carry my score haha but I’m not expecting to get a NMSF qualifying score or anything. If I improve from the 1100 I got on my practice test, that would be pretty nice haha
Honestly that was easy af; I’m 99% sure I got nat. merit. Like I finished everything super early (I’m talking 20 min. early in calc. portion of math) and checked every single answer. I’m in Gerogia too, so that helps lol. I think I missed one in each section max (it balances to about 4 wrong total), so I’m vibing rn lol. Praying for nm!
how do you calculate that index number? I keep seeing references to it but idk what the max is or how to figure it out. Help me out here?
yes!!! I was hoping someone noticed the strings of answers. 3 b’s, then 4 d’s, the 3 c’s etc…
@PartoftheHamFam The Selection Index Number is 2 times the the sum of the test scores for Reading, Writing, and Math.
I just rolled with it. I didn’t care how many of a letter I had in a row. The College Board was probably trying to mess with our minds.
@ZealousScholar I forgot which section it was (either reading or writing), but I remember being a little anxious about having 3 of my answers in a row as B. I also had a good portion of the writing answers as A, meaning No Change, but not too much.
@frazzledazzle Those are some very dank memes! :)) :))
@kassh4 I think I might have too.
Looking back at my comment, it looks extremely arrogant and pompous, but thanks for replying anyways. I totally agree with not caring about the rows of letters, it was just something interesting I noticed. When do we hear what the cutoff is? Same day the psat scores come in (12/12)?
It seems a loot of people thought this was easier than last year’s, does this mean that the cutoff will be higher??? I live in Texas, our cutoff this year was 220…our state’s isn’t even that high, but still
anybody rememebr the last grammar q? About if the sentence “2008-2011 artisan labels increased” should be included , it was def no but i was stuck on the why, ended up with “specificity didn’t relate to prev q”
Sorry for posting multiple times, can anyone tell me where they got multiple Ds and Cs? I only remember Bs in reading
@TP2000 writing was slightly harder
I really wish this wasn’t our last year taking the PSATs. I won’t be able to relate to any of the memes next year! :((
