High School Class of 2018

So for thanksgiving we get Wednesday through Sunday off of school, and every single teacher is trying to finish our unit before break. On Tuesday I have an AP Chem test, an Honors Precalc test, a paper due for AP Lit, a Medical Interventions Test, an an AP Microeconomics test

@kassh4 My old school used to do that! There was no such thing as GPA- but also; on your final transcript they would give you a letter grade instead of that.

So I just realized that PSAT scores WILL be online on December 12th! Since I do remember that I did check-in the boxes that said I want to have college mail sent home and colleges letters e-mailed to me, I’ll probably be getting a bunch of e-mails and mail. For anyone who did this, I believe all you would need to do is make a separate e-mail account, specifically for college e-mails, change the e-mail address in the College Board system, and now you’ve got your own separate college e-mail address so other e-mails won’t clutter your inbox. I already do this and it’s great.

Also, on a scale of 1-5, how happy do you think you’ll be with your score?

3 for me, as long as it’s way better than last year’s score.

Also, guidance counselors will get our PSAT scores one week before we do. I’m probably going to bug my counselor for them! :))

What do you guys have for SNHC tonight? I just finished an AP Bio lab report and now have to read a couple of sections of my textbook. I also have to answer 35 short-answer questions for Poli Sci. 8-| I technically have a lot more to do than that, but Thanksgiving Break is coming up and I’d rather catch up then.

@neptuna I just finished my AP Chem lab that was due on Wednesday. :)) My teacher said I can just turn it in late and still receive full credit.

I’m currently studying for my Pre-Calc test tomorrow and then I’m going to study for my AP Chem quiz on Tuesday.

I only have two days of school this week (Monday and Tuesday)!

For SNHC I have to finish taking notes on Chapter 10 of my APUSH notes and do the chapter packet. By midnight tonight. And I’ve been out of the house all day. I should probably start doing that now… Haha

I have to APUSH notes, math homework, an english test. I envy the people who don’t have school at all this week #-o

I did a bunch of stuff yesterday, so now I pretty much just need to work on a draft for my English presentation for Tuesday. I also need to clean my room and do laundry though and I’d honestly rather do homework lol.

Welp, it looks like I’m going to go back to boarding school in Switzerland again. Luckily, IB follows the same curriculum all over the world so I LUCKED OUTTTT.

@ak2018 I think 5. I don’t really care if I got nmsf. I’m more proud of the prep I put in because my sat score increased by 50 points. I still have work to do, but I feel good about the test.

@neptuna I’m already on break, so not much to do. I just need to finish some French assignments and start a chem project.

I’m on break too, but I have a lot that I should be doing. I have chem, apush, French, and calc homework. I need to start studying for finals. AND I’m scheduled to take the December SAT ii math level 2 and I haven’t started studying…

I’m very good in math, but I forgot the majority of the material. Do you think it is possible to relearn the material for the math level 2 test using Barron’s in one week??? Also, what is a good score in the barrons book vs the real test?

@sewin2music Barron’s is a lot harder than the real thing. It’s a general rule that scoring in the 600’s on its practice tests will get you a 700+. For quick prep, I’d suggest using another book. Barron’s will get you to an 800, but it covers a lot of material that you need to practice thoroughly over a couple weeks(cramming) or months. Still buy Barron’s if you plan on retaking the test. I have it and it’s a really good book. Just has a lot of material.

Can’t focus on my assignment but I can focus on how much I don’t want to do my assignment.

does anyone have any suggestions for the SAT Bio Subject Test?

@cliffnotes I took it and got 760 Bio M, with minimal prep except AP Bio knowledge. I recommend that you take it right after the AP exam or before it, while the content is still fresh. Noted that the AP Bio content is significantly more in depth and complex that the SAT Bio subject test, so you will be over prepared, but you may want to get a prep book. Because when I took the test there was some content not covered in AP Bio.

Update on my suicide mission: I finished my notes and have roughly an hour to get through the packet and submit it on time. Although I feel that my teacher will live if I post it around 12:30 haha as long as it’s there when he wakes up.

Just finished my English Play analysis and spanish poster, now I’ll do my chem lab in bed and go to sleep by 11:30? :((

Handed in the packet a whole 7 minutes late. I should be fine though. Going to bed… finally. Night guys!

I’ve been doing more college research (I know it’s shocking :)) ) and I’ve found I really like Reed, Pomona, and Tufts. The lack of diversity at Tufts makes me a little sad (because of its size), but I really love the vibe I get from it. Reed’s tiny and I’ve crossed larger schools off my list for being small, but something about it keeps bringing me back. I love that there is no focus on grades at all and instead on your personal learning experience! The school’s not well known because it intentionally doesn’t try to mess with rankings like other schools. I love it! Pomona is really unique and I love the Claremont system. So many opportunities within your school and at the surrounding colleges. I’m looking into Harvey Mudd now too.

I was under the impression for a really long time that STEM programs at liberal arts schools were weaker. That was pretty dumb of me. :-/

So I’m currently watching Mars on The National Geographic Channel for the last hour and it honestly fascinated me how someone our age may be on a trip to the moon! How do you guys feels about going to Mars one day?
