Also, do you guys think we can start going over answers, if the moderators will allow it? Not all of them, just the ones that confused people. I only had 33 incorrect answers and 2 omitted, so it’s not that much.
@ak2018 I think personal improvement is really important, and you should be proud, especially if standardized test taking isn’t something that comes naturally for you. I guarantee that there’s something you’re a lot better at than I am. And look at your percentiles, that’s still super high!
My percentiles are 99th across the board except for math PSAT User Percentile which is an 98th
I managed a 221 in Ohio where the cutoff last year was 217, so I should be safe. However, my friend is telling me that the scores went way up and that commended is now 215, which I think is nonsense.
Commended isn’t decided till Spring so your friend doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
@snowfairy137 Thanks I really needed that. It didn’t really help that most of the top ranking kids in my graduating class were in my AP Lang class today comparing their scores (most of which were in the 1400 range). One of my friends called herself stupid because of her score and it was a 1210, one point below mine, which kind made me feel crappy. But yeah, thanks!
I got a 1240!!! 670 on Reading/Writing, 570 on Math. Definitely better than what I was hoping for! My SI is a 191, so definitely not expecting NMSF.
As for percentiles…
Nationally Representative Sample Percentile (Overall Score): 93rd
PSAT User Percentile (Overall Score): 87th
I’m super pumped!
So here’s my plan for the next few months:
Winter Break - Do Online Classwork and Study for SAT
January 7th - Take Free SAT Practice Exam with Testing Service (Goal Score: 1250)
February 18th - Take 2nd Free SAT Practice Exam with Testing Service (Goal Score: 1280)
March 11th - Take First SAT (Goal Score: 1300)
@ak2018 keep in mind that the testing services often make their practice tests harder so you feel like you need to take their prep. Don’t be discouraged!
@snowfairy137 I’ll keep that in mind! Thanks!
I got a 1340. I moved up 70 points in reading and writing and only up 10 in math :)) Last year, math was higher, but this year my reading was higher. I know I can make the math score go way up, I just forgot how to do basic math! Before the next SAT, I’m positive I can make it go up to 700. Maybe a 1340 with an SI of 203 is enough for the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
EDIT: Dang! The South cutoff this past year for the South was a 204. I have one point left. Maybe it’ll move down? I really hope so :((
1460/218. not too shabby. hopefully nmsf for florida. cutoff was 217 last year so fingers crossed.
Y’ALL!!! Has no one noticed the math was out of 760, not 800? I missed no math questions and got a 760! Please tell me I’m not alone here! So this changes everything! NMSQT is shifted slightly lower for for everyone and you actually did 40 points better than it looks Personally I’m in Georgia with a 1460, 700 CR/W and 760 M. My index is 216, so idk if I’ll make it for national merit
@PartoftheHamFam PSAT maxes out at 760
@PartoftheHamFam good job on math! Since the PSAT is slightly easier than the SAT, it makes out at 1520. However, the scores are supposed to correspond to what you would have gotten on the SAT that day. You got a 216 SI (Math/10 + Reading/5) and Georgia’s cutoff was 219 last year. Good luck! It really sucks that Reading and Writing is weighted more than Math.
The reason it’s 760 is that the College Board decided they didn’t like 2 questions and removed them. For some reason, they made them 20 points each and counted it against us, but whatever ;( As long everyone is in the same boat idc. Can someone confirm by going to the no calculator section and checking their questions? The total number of questions is 17, but the number correct+incorrect+omitted should equal 15!
Wow I wasn’t even aware they changed it, which is weird because I usually keep very up to date with anything and everything SAT! So is the SI going to be the same or slightly lower because they changed the PSAT?
@PartoftheHamFam It’s been 760 since last year. So, the SI should be the same as last year but very different from the year before.
@PartoftheHamFam they changed it last year, so the SIs should be similar to last year. The sections are out of 760 regardless of whether they omitted questions or not, it doesn’t count against us.
Aww man I didn’t do that well then
