@apple1893 Don’t stress about it too much! I am the same way with the standardized test. Maybe take a shot at the ACT. I personally did that and felt more confident while taking the test and had a better outcome at the end, but as the others were saying study up more, there is an august SAT you can take!
@LushLillies probably depends on the school. Most really aren’t ideal but you have a 100% chance of getting in, hence the safety qualification.
Hi you guys! I’ve been lurking for a while and finally decided to post, I’m getting a little stressed about AP exams and college and it’s nice too see that other people kind of are too!
@apple1893 I’m sorry you didn’t get the score you wanted, but it’s not the end of the world. And yeah, like the others were saying, you probably should skip the May SAT and study a lot more, take some more practice tests, boost your confidence and get ready to rock that SAT!
@010323026877 Hey! I don’t know why it’s nice to see the rest of us stressed too
but I definitely feel the same.
Guys what do you think about NYU Abu Dhabi? I did a little research on it and wow, it was awesome.
I visited MIT today and I fell in love with the school. My family and I decided to visit today in a “why not?” moment since BU was booked solid. Well, I fell in love. MIT to me is a place where science and the humanities coexist, has the right amount of quirky nerdiness for me, and is a community within the vastness of Cambridge and Boston.
At an astronomy talk tonight I talked to Prof. Sara Seager from the Planetary Sciences and Physics departments at MIT and she suggested that I major in Physics (basically don’t major in Planetary Science or Astronomy) for undergrad to get the foundation. I think I’m going to do that.
After a “what the heck” visit to MIT, I discovered that I can really see myself going there and that, if I do, I’d study physics.
I just had an hour long talk with my one friend who’s deciding between two schools and honestly it’s scaring me that that is going to be us in a year’s time
Me too! ^^^ Today, I talked to my boyfriend’s mom who is really the person I talk to about college because neither of my parents went to college or understand anything really about college and it scares me because it’s so unknowing of what could happen. Like I have a list of 3-4 I know out of 10, if that’s even the number.
Is anyone going to COSMOS UCSC or Girls Who Code Summer Immersion USC or any other summer stuff? Currently deciding between the two
AP Macro
AP Micro
AP Lit
AP Physics 2
Calculus 3 (online)
WELP. So I’ve been lucky enough to be accepted to two summer extracurricular programs, but I can only choose one. I was selected for an internship at Boeing thru my high school and I was also admitted to the COSMOS UCSD engineering cluster. I am definitely leaning towards Boeing because I do not have to live away from home, I can still have free time to enjoy my summer, and it’s FREE (COSMOS with a bit of financial aid turns out to be around $2500). Fortunately the cost isn’t too much of a deal for my family, and I would for sure do COSMOS if it meant a better chance of getting into college. I know I will be able to learn a lot thru either one of these opportunities, but I want to choose the one that makes my college app that more unique and increase my acceptance chances. Let me know all of y’all’s feedback, much appreciated.
congrats! I would definitely do Boeing a real internship will not only help with college admissions but with your resume for later internships and jobs.

(And for others who want to know more about Northwestern)
Well I don’t know if you wanted population or something (I looked it up, it’s around 75K residents), but it’s a big town! Definitely like a larger college town. But it’s a suburb, so it’s nowhere near as densely packed as Chicago, which I think could be a perk. You’re part of a smaller community within a larger one.
To the tip of Chicago, you could probably walk depending on where you wanted to go. To get to the downtown Chicago loop (which is like the middle area) it takes about 45-55 minutes on the subway, around 25-30 if you drive. It’s easily accessible and good for weekend trips!
The students seemed very chill and friendly. My tour guide was a mix of geeky and social, as seemed a lot of the people! The students are def passionate about their field of study. We went inside a classroom (definitely shows off their small class sizes, many rooms have capacities of 15-19! The cafeteria was pretty large (one of them that we went to) and lots of students were around. They have a nice auditorium! And the overall vibe is great as it’s a relaxing campus with a mix of modern and fancy old architecture.
I love it a lot! The acceptance rate, though, I do not love… (9%)
Got denied from Naval Academy Summer Seminar, really disappointing as it was going to be probably the best opportunity to experience the academy. SAT score back the same day 1530 (750 reading, 780 Math). Can’t decide if it’s worth it to try and improve the score.
thank you! nu has a pretty high spot on my list right now, but is definitely a reach because of that acceptance rate
@Hamlon Congrats on getting into E2 @ MIT!!!
@solarsystem Congrats on getting into MOTSEC!!!
@ak2018 Thanks! I don’t think I’m going because of Carnegie Mellon though. I feel like I’m making the right decision.
Hey Guys. How would you feel about creating a GroupMe for this thread? With it being very close to college app time, it’s definitely be cool. The MITES GroupME was wild AF!
