@lindsgal call them yourself!
I actually applied for a 3 week teaching assistant job, but since I’m so busy this summer, I can’t do it. But my first job will either be at NASA or Lockheed Martin, so…
I adore my summers tbh, I volunteer as a coach at a girl’s (11-14 years old) volleyball camp in Chicago for about six hours every weekday. The girls are all like the little sisters I’ve never had, as cheesy as that is, I’ve had a job at a local auto shop for about two years as well, and on weekends I just hang out with friends who are here and not at debate camp or a Northwestern program lol
I’m set for my summer job, since it will just be my job that I have now!
I’m so excited for school to be over. Just gotta make it through 2 weeks of ap tests, 3 weeks of not doing much, then 1 week of finals
Does anyone know if the fee waiver for the ACT covers all of the test prep options? Does the Kaplan Online Prep Live include the regular ACT Online prep? This is so confusing lol. Why do they have three different options and who in their right mind pays over $200 on test prep?
@Hamlon I think I got some kind of Kaplan prep when I used the fee waiver. I didn’t really use it because official tests are better to prepare from.
@carmen00 Congrats! You’ll completely stop being nervous after 1 - 2 weeks
I’m super late to the convo (had some final exams, oops!) but I just want to say that I saw Hamilton in Chicago, and it was LIFE CHANGING. If you are close to the area or considering visiting, it really is a must-see. You need to buy them quite in advance (I bought tickets right after booking the flight for my spring break trip…so I purchased them in December to see the April show), but they are really not that expensive. My seats were very good (first row, Mezzanine, so there was nobody in front of me) and they costed around $105 without tax, probably with taxes around $140. IT WAS SO WORTH IT.
The cast in Chicago is AMAZING, still chosen by Lin so definitely don’t assume the Chicago version is not as good as New York.
My favorite songs are of course, the sad ones…I love sad music! So It’s Quiet Uptown is my favorite, but I also love Dear Theodosia, Satisfied, and Burn.
I try to talk to my parents about finances, we had one good convo. Most of our family friends are very wealthy and their kids go to very top schools (Ivys), so my parents assume I’m going to get into one lol
We have savings for 4 years of full price college for me (we don’t buy a lot of things, my parents consistently put savings away for college) and we don’t qualify for aid, but I know that I need to save money for medical school in the future. It’s going to be hard talking about that with them though. They really want me to go the best name-brand school possible.
Most of my top schools happen to be incredibly selective (because I want an urban school with small class sizes but is not commuter), but I would definitely love to receive merit money. I’m not sure what would happen if I was admitted to a more selective school and then received money to a less selective one…definitely would a long battle with my parents.
I’m trying to cut down my list to 8-10 schools, I currently have 11! I don’t want to have to pay tons of app fees and score fees, but I do want some options and chances at merit!
@kassh4 I agree. I’m looking through the site and it’s not worth actually paying for. I’m surprised their prep isn’t free.
Hey guys! I got my ACT writing score back and it was an 11. Any tips on how to make it a perfect 12?
@HelloThereHola Honestly there is no need to go for a 12. Most would argue that 8 or greater is enough. No college really takes the writing seriously. Your essays and supps are a much better indicator of your writing skills.
@Hamlon Honestly, all these companies say “not for profit” organizations, but it’s really a cash grab. Like sending ACT scores to each school should not cost 12 bucks. I saw someone do the math about how much it costs to send something over the internet and time and all those factors and the cost was still next to zero.
@julia35002 my favorites are Burn, Satisfied, and What Did I Miss!
I’m applying to 5 colleges for around $245 I think?
@Marg532 Do you have fee waivers because if not that seems a little low
Just took a real SAT US History practice test (The Official Study Guide for all SAT Subject Tests) and got a 770! Now I just need to get around that score on test day :((
@acomfysofa Are there any other practice tests for SAT2 than the official study guide book? I can’t seem to find any resources to study from.
@kassh4 There’s “The Official SAT Subject Tests in U.S. and World History Study Guide”, and there’s a new official one coming out in a couple months by the CollegeBoard (but it’s after June; the month that I’m taking the test!).
@HelloThereHola DUDE I THOUGHT THAT WAS A 11 COMPOSITE AND I GOT SO WORRIED
So I had my prom last night! It was so much fun. My dress was a wreck (stained and ripped during pictures) but after I stopped being bitter about that it was a blast.
I had my first day of work on Friday and everything went fine. I work today also but I’m so exhausted from prom. I’m not looking forward to that 6.5 hr shift.
I’ve been so busy lately. I’m just exhausted from everything and I’m so ready for summer.
