High School Class of 2018

Today’s the day I’ll be applying to my last EA school, Loyola Marymount, which is also my Second choice school! I have to finish up my essay (super great topic, climate change, which is perfect since I plan to major in environmental studies), and then I’ll submit it tonight!

I’ve already applied EA for Chapman (tied for 3rd choice), Northeastern (6th choice), and UM (tied for last choice). I already did UCF and Vanderbilt, so Next, I’ll be finishing USC (First choice!!!), and then I just have to finish up BU and Univ of San Diego after that.

Here’s the schools I’m applying to in order of preference (It’s been flucuating a bit but it’s pretty close)

  1. Univ. Of Southern California
  2. Loyola Marymount 3 (tied). Boston Univ 3 (tied). Chapman Univ
  3. Univ of San Diego
  4. Northeastern
  5. Vanderbilt 8 (tied). Univ of Central Florida 9 (tied). Univ of Miami

UCF is my safety since I’m guarenteed admission, and know I can afford it

Just submitted my UNC Chapel Hill application, now need to finish Harvard SCEA!

@snowfairy137 Have you interviewed at WPI? If you can and have not, call them up and arrange for an interview. :bz

hey does anyone know what time the morehead cain deadlien is

submitted my UNC app 50 minutes before the deadline ;-;

@retiredfarmer last spring when I visited Boston!

Just submitted my app for James Madison University. It legit took me an hour and a half :)) Now that that’s finished, I only have CMU and GMU left to apply to for ED/EA!

I’m really worried. I submitted my application to Rutgers New Brunswick this past saturday. At the time, my essay had been copy and pasted seemingly perfectly into the preview screen and had no issues in the pdf form. However, I’m looking at my application now and my quotations at one point of the essay have been changed to two upside down question marks. It also changed my apostrophes to those question marks too. I’m really worried that admissions will think that I did not proofread the essay even though at the time they hadn’t shown up like that. I just sent an email to admissions I really hope that they don’t think I’m an idiot. This is my number one school and I will be so upset if this costs me admission.

@mamaba That probably won’t impact your decisions. I’m sure admission officers have seen many formatting issues that have nothing to do with the actual writing of the applicant, so don’t worry! You’ll be fine :slight_smile:

Every Top School: sends one e-mail per week (and an unnecessarily thick book or pamphlet) about how they’re the best thing since sliced bread

Me: First of all, I’m pretty sure that I don’t have the time nor money to get slapped across the face with a rejection letter when I least expect it. The goal is to be “somewhat emotionally stable” over the next few months. :))

@ak2018 That’s literally me every time I look at my email and see that USC or someplace like that has sent me something :)) it would be awesome to go to USC but I’m not competitive enough to even think about the full-ride they have, much less getting in to begin with! Also, it’s across the country for me and plane tickets are also super expensive haha

@ak2018 i’m crying over all the wasted paper that i toss in recycling… :((
anyone know how to stop receiving college mail?

@agentaquastar Next time you take a standardized test, mark “no” when they ask if you want to be in the student search service or whatever.

I just got a letter from ASU Barrett (the honors college) inviting me to visit and offering to reimburse part of my flight! I emailed them to get more information but free/cheap trip! yay!

@snowfairy137 Me too!!!

@ski_racer I have a friend that goes there and he been trying to make me visit for forever now, lol

@snowfairy137 I have friends there too! I don’t think I’ll be taking them up on the visit offer, though. Phoenix is a little too warm for my taste. I’m more of a cold weather person.

@ski_racer I’m similar but idk, it won’t be bad to check it out plus I won’t be there in the summer lol

@agentaquastar I know the feeling! I have a big plastic bag that I got from the national college fair that’s filled to the brim with college mail from colleges I’m not applying to! I’m keeping it all because I feel it would be interesting to weigh it at the end of the college application process and see how many pounds of mail is wasted on a potential applicant. College mail from colleges I’m applying to are kept in a separate cardboard box. After that, I’m going to take it all to my school and dump all the mail in the paper recycling baskets haha

@mamaba - Same thing happened to DD. In her case, I don’t think there were any weird characters but all her paragraphs were lost and it was just one big paragraph. It didn’t even show which prompt she chose. She called Rutgers and they said not to worry.
