I have everything done on applications except essays, and I’m really struggling with those haha. Luckily I only have 2 schools to apply to November 1st(Ohio State and Northeastern), but I’m still worried. I have a rough rough draft of my common app essay and an outline of the Morrill Scholars Program essay for OSU. I really need to stop procrastinating lol.
If anyone could give me feedback I’d REALLY appreciate it lol.
@papaya12 you just gotta do it man. I was in the same place literally this morning but I finally got a common app essay done that I’m really proud of. I turned off my phone and the internet on my laptop and I think that really helped.
In other news, I failed my first APUSH test and currently have a C for the term. I should probably start reading the textbook, lol. I have a B in AP Lit right now and am way behind on Sense and Sensibility. I just really don’t like the book.
So far for this term my UW GPA is a 3.4 and W is a 3.8. I was hoping for a 4.0 weighted but senioritis is a serious thing lol.
I have been applying to numerous scholarships over the month and had to constantly ask my counselor to complete different school reports for me. Its like I ask her for something new every week. She is probably tired of me by now. What should I do to thank her for helping me through this?
I just got a 1330 on a Khan Academy SAT practice test (practice test #5) with a breakdown of 670 M and 660 R/W. I hope that test is harder than the actual one because, if so, I’m screwed when I take the SAT in 2 weeks. But, then again, I got a 1310 on practice test 1 (660 M, 650 R/W) the day before I got a 1370 (670 M, 700 R/W) on the SAT last April. Please tell me practice test #5 is harder than the actual thing!!! :-SS
@frazzledazzle The only studying I did was the practice tests- and I always scored in the 1300-1400s. But I got a 1460 twice on the real thing. I practice tests were definitely harder. (It may have been bc I snacked and listened to music while practicing sometimes… but) overall I was surprised by the difference. I crammed the night before the Oct SAT by watching some geometry vids on khan academy. After that, the math was very doable in Oct- and I usually always have problems in math. If you have time to take it more than once, try to so that you have a chance to get problems you will know. I will add that I am super calm on test days (usually bc I stay up till 11 and am just tired, but pls don’t do that) so I don’t have test anxiety. That can sometimes hurt kids scores. Otherwise, I don’t see why you wouldn’t improve or at least get the same score as in practice.
I think you’ll do fine on the real thing. Get lots of sleep and pack healthy snacks!
@agentaquastar Thank you so much! I figured something was up when I got a 1370 the day after getting a 1310 on the practice test. I plan on taking one or two more practice tests before November 4th on top of doing practice problems for 30-60 minutes each day. I’m also going to be taking 2 ACT practice tests next week in preparation for the ACT next Saturday.
I’ll definitely follow your advice! Aiming for that cheeky 1500 (hopefully…)!
Guys I just got accepted into two schools - SUNY Fredonia and Kent State!!! I had a rough day today with my marching band competition, and I was ready to crash but I saw a bunch of college mail on my kitchen table so I looked through it. I saw two big envelopes from the colleges and my brain was like “I mean it could be but I doubt I would’ve gotten a decision already.” But then I opened Fredonia’s and there it was!!! I freaked. May have been some squealing and jumping up and down at 12 in the morning. Same reaction to Kent’s. I’m so happy!!! I hope you guys find out about some of your colleges soon!
@frazzledazzle I always scored in the 1300-1400 range on practice tests but ended up with a 1480. You should be fine! I think the lack of pressure w practice tests made me score lower.
@writergirl0316 Is there a set date in which we’ll receive McGill decisions or is it on a rolling basis? Do you know, since I can’t find anything about it online.
I’m going to be submitting my application soon, too!
Just signed up to retake the SAT in December! I have a 780 Math and 690 RW, so I will be studying from now until December to get a high RW score for a good superscore. Aiming for a 750 RW so I can have a 1530 superscore, which I feel I can achieve.
@acomfysofa you’ll have a better shot than me, who’s not applying ;D as long as you have financial match/safeties don’t worry abt what others think. good luck!!
