@ak2018 @cliffnotes Thanks so much guys!
I’m honestly the laziest person you will ever meet and I applied to Stanford for the funny memes I could make out of the rejection letter. Alas, this shows that if you’re dreaming of something, GO FOR IT!

@averagebean You are not average, you are amazing! Congrats on Stanford!!!
@jeffrandell There’s a 15% acceptance rate for people who are deferred, so there is hope! Good luck!
From my summer program (Summer Science Program in Astrophysics) alone, I know 1 person who got into Stanford, 4 who got into Caltech, and 1 who got into Carnegie Mellon CS (same as 1 person for Caltech).
I little update on me. I am halfway done with my applications! I applied to McGill a week ago for music performance and have an audition in Boston next month. Now I just have my 5 reach schools to go! Working on supplements is hard, but I found the prompt breakdowns on College Vine and they’ve helped a lot.
I also finally got my ACT score! I got a 31C with 35E, 34M, 26R, and 29S. I knew Reading was going to be my worst so I’m okay with it. Sadly it was my only attempt at the ACT since I couldn’t afford to take it last Saturday, but I’m good with my score.
Is the equivalent SAT of a 31 higher than a 1380? I’m probably sending both my SAT and ACT to all schools, but I’m curious.
Good luck to all of you with your early applications! I can’t wait to hear amazing things in the upcoming week!
Congrats on your acceptances everyone, and to everyone who doesn’t have them yet, I know you’ll get good news in the next round
@frazzledazzle I think they’re about the same, or the 31 could be around equivalent to a 1420 according to PrepScholar. I have a 33 (32.5: 33 everything except 31R) ACT and 1450 SAT and have been told that my ACT is slightly better.
@CharlotteLetter I saw on one thing that the ACT was better and on another that they were the same, so I got a tad bit confused. Thanks!
Anybody have any good books to read for this Winter? I just started reading Oscar Wilde’s letter from jail, De Profundis, and my eyes literally tear up every other paragraph. Just knowing the background behind Wilde’s imprisonment has got me in my feels. It also reminded me how much I miss reading for fun. I think my goal for the break is to read Brave New World and Parable of the Sower.
Also, @neonerudite @aspiringgirl @averagebean congrats!!!
@averagebean I’m also really lazy and thought for a solid week that Questbridge sent me the wrong email and I actually didn’t get matched to Stanford LOL but congrats and I’m so happy to there’s a fellow Tree here!
Ugh I hate waiting for my EA decisions. I got an acceptance package from UTulsa on Saturday (with a free t-shirt and stickers!!!) and an acceptance email from the University of North Dakota (my “in-state” safety bc I don’t care for any of the MN state schools). Expecting to hear from Rose-Hulman, Trinity University, Case Western Reserve, and Villanova within the next 9 days @-)
Hey everybody! Congrats to everyone who got accepted so far and for those who got rejected, I’m sure you’ll find another great school!!! (I’m really happy I already got my acceptance to TCNJ…I can’t believe I actually got in!)
I got my acceptance to UT Dallas today!!! I felt like my ECs were a main factor.
Congrats!!! What’s your major?
Also what were your ECs?
Got into my top safety school today! So happy ^^
congrats on unc!

(I also have a test in APAH tomorrow AND that midterm to study for!)
My best friend just got into cornell engineering!!!
Guys, I’m suddenly worried. Are any of you below 16?
I’m exactly 16. Why? @gigichuck
@writergirl0316 I was just wondering whether colleges consider the age of an applicant. I’m almost 16. I don’t know if that’s a negative in my application.
If anything, it would be positive that you were able to graduate HS so early.
I don’t think they give age much consideration in the event that an applicant has conventional qualifications in all other areas. Technically, I’m a year too old to be in high school, and I’m not very worried about my chances.
Guys I know this is stupid but I want to go to Stanford but at the same time, I want to stay behind and go to the same university as my boyfriend. It sounds dumb but it’s a decision I have to face eventually and I’m not sure what to choose ahhhhh
@gigichuck They don’t care about age at all, they literally just skim over your personal info and jump right into your stats and essay so I wouldn’t worry
