I’m probably going to visit Rice at some point this spring!
Also, a spot opened up in scioly Invitationals! It was super last minute (they told us on Thursday, and Invitationals is on the 21st) so I had to scramble and get a shift covered, but I’m super excited! I’m already in Wind Power, and I put Ecology, Astronomy, and Microbe Mission as my first, second, and third event choices, respectively. I find out on Monday. I hope they don’t put me in Hydrogeology again, and I really don’t want to have another migraine. Based on how I did on the test, I think I’m going to be put in Ecology and Microbe Mission.
@OMPursuit, YSPA sounds interesting, but it’s really far away for me, and now I’m unsure about going that far just for a summer program. COSMOS will probably be best for me then.
Yikes, $5000 is a lot for YSPA, plus the cost for transportation…
@northeastgirl24 AP Euro is such an interesting subject, I’m really sad that my school doesn’t offer it! I think I might self study for it later on in my high school journey. Wbu?
Hey everyone, just found this thread. I hope you are all doing well…
I’m a student from Massachusetts, currently taking AP World History (only AP offered to sophomores here) and my current sport is swimming.
As for colleges, I know I want to major in International Relations (or a course similar to that). I’ve been looking at colleges forever, but my top three are Georgetown, Pomona, and Middlebury. All three are reaches for me, and if I don’t make it into them I will most likely consider going abroad for undergrad.
@greenlegobrick my school also doesn’t offer AP Euro, I was thinking about self-studying for it next year as well (but I’m afraid it might just be too stressful).
Has anyone looked into doing SAT subject tests? I will be doing the SAT II World History this year because I’m currently taking APWH, so it’ll all be fresh in my mind.
Anyways, sorry to ramble… how’s everyone’s year going?
@northeastgirl24 I am taking AP Euro right now. Unfortunately, my teacher teaches it like a college course. He does not “teach” us anything in class except how to write DBQs, SAQs, LEQs, etc. and we rely on reading the textbook for the actual content. I would recommend taking it only if you will not be taking APUSH or World with it.
right now i’m leaning towards taking it in school next year @greenlegobrick bc I really want to take both AP euro and AP gov but I also want to take a free period senior year
I would be taking apush with it and that is the one thing concerning me @kimclan1 my school teaches apush over two years though so I’m hoping that lightens it in a way
@Kastelano This year, I am in AP Chemistry, and I’m hoping to take the Chemistry Subject Test in May or June. Also, this summer, I want to take AP Bio and Precalculus if my school allows it, so if that works out, I’ll take the Bio M and Math 2 subject tests in August or September.
