I really need to do PSAT/SAT prep this summer and find a job may look into college courses too because my ghetto hs barely offers any APs
Hi guys, I’m back!
I was absolutely swamped with work before and now, I am finally free!
I really need help deciding what classes to take next year. I already signed up for classes, but I am having second thoughts.
I signed up for:
IB History HL
IB English HL
IB Chemistry SL
IB Psychology SL
H Spanish 4
TOK
Aerospace Engineering/ Yoga
DE Multivariable Calculus/ DE Differential Equations
and my senior year schedule would be:
IB English HL
IB History HL
IB Physics SL
IB Social and Cultural Anthropology SL
IB Spanish SL
TOK
Engineering Design and Development
DE Linear Algebra/ DE Biostatistics
I would also have to self study for IB Math HL and take an online AP Art History class
I am really worried about taking a full course load, plus taking DE classes and an online class. At this point, the only classes I am looking forward to are history, psych, engineering. I am afraid of being overwhelmed and freaking out so much that I fall behind in all of them. I am think of dropping IB and changing my schedule to more AP and DE classes.
11th
AP World History
AP Lang
AP Physics 1
AP Computer Science Principles
Aerospace Engineering
H Spanish 4
open period
DE Mulitivariable Calculus/ DE Differential Equations
12th
AP Lit
AP Chem (double period)
AP Computer Science A
Engineering Design and Development
Yoga
open period
DE Linear Algebra/ DE Biostatistics
I would also probably take other DE courses in Political Science and maybe Psychology and it would be a lot less stressful, except for AP World, but I was also really looking forward to taking IB History.
I really don’t know what to do.
Sorry for the wordy post. I just need help.
Dude, I’m taking a really similar course load! Maybe we can compare notes? @IAmNotCreativ
Same boat with the SAT score tho @CharlotteLetter
Here were my schedules these past few years and for junior year:
FRESHMAN YEAR
String Orchestra
Spanish I
Team Sports
Career Pathways
Algebra I
World History
English I
Earth/Environmental Science
SOPHOMORE YEAR
Chamber Orchestra
Spanish II Honors
Geometry
Algebra II/Trig
US History 1865-Present
English II (AKA, American Literature)
Biology
Now, here’s my schedule for next year at the school that I won’t be staying at:
JUNIOR YEAR
Chamber Orchestra
Colorado History
Competitive Speech & Debate
Tech Lab I
Pre-Calculus Honors/Calculus A
US Government
Economics
AP English Language & Composition
Chemistry Honors
However, because I’m moving, here’s my new idea of a schedule:
JUNIOR YEAR
Orchestra (There’s only one orchestra class)
Pre-Calculus Honors
US History II Honors
English 11: American Literature Honors
Chemistry Honors
Along with these, I’ll be taking up to 4 electives, which I won’t know about until I move.
We got our schedules back, I’m a little disappointed but largely ok with mine (all of these are high honors (essentially AP))
1st Semester:
US History
20th Century Novel/English 11-12
Intro to Anthropology
PE (this is actually rigorous and required at my HS lol)
Studio Art 1 (probs going to drop to take concurrent enrollment Spanish)
Pre-Calc
Intro to Physics/Physics 1
Modern History
2nd SemesterL
US History
Creative Writing (might switch to something else)
Free Period (might add something)
PE
British and American Poetry/English 11-12
Pre-Calc
Physics A/Basic Physics
Race, Class, Gender in 20th Century American Pop Culture
Probs gonna try to fit college Spanish in there somewhere 2nd semester, and I’m also probs going to take college English first semester (Intro to Poetry maybe)
Don’t know how I’m going to do this all with good grades and ECs but I’m excited to try tbh
The AP World exam was pretty easy? What do you guys think?
You guys get your schedules for the next year so soon? At my school we have to sign up so far in advance and we don’t get them until a few days before school starts. It sucks having to wait because some people like to plan ahead.
AP Euro went surprisingly ok!!
@shaneyboy123 We sign up in March and get them in mid-August (about 2 weeks before school starts).
@shaneyboy123 We pick our courses in February and they get approved/modified before April! We don’t get teacher/schedule assignments until the summer though, but we do get to know what classes we get to take!
We picked ours the beginning of March, but won’t find out what classes we have until August. They did tell us individually if a class didn’t make it so that we could replace it.
I signed up for courses in March and had four APs, but I just now decided I want to take AP calc AB rather than precalc, so hopefully I can make that switch
We request courses in February, then find out a (tentative) list of classes in May. Final schedules in August/December.
I have a problem lol, I don’t know if I should continue Spanish into junior year doing AP Spanish IV, or drop that and take AP Psychology and AP Comparative Government. I don’t really like Spanish, but if it will improve my chances of getting into more elite colleges, or even UT Austin, then I’ll do it. Any advice on which I should take?
Okay what I just got a 1510 on one of the KhanAcademy SAT practice tests. I got a 1340 on the PSAT for comparison. I’ve literally done 0 practice in between, how did I improve at all? the math w/ calc was ridiculously easy on the practice test
Dude, same! @literallyliteral
With a little bit of studying we should be good for whatever, haha.
@IAmNotCreativ long time no see, literally. Don’t miss Pettit tho
AAh my finals are tomorrow! wish me luck! Algebra II plus Euro History tomorrow…
Finals in 3 weeks lol
I failed my math final with a score of 25/50! I love my life so much /s
anyways I hope I have a better teacher next year, and that I can catch up some over the summer. and I used to be so good at math…
in other news all of my other grades are As!
