High School Class of 2019

Hi guys just wanted to post my schedule for next year. I’m gonna be officially in the IB program next year so I’ll list what the equivalent would be in AP too since my school just groups them together.

AP Lit
AP Physics 2/ IB Physics
AP Calculus AB/ IB Math
AP Psych/ IB Psych (or AP Comp Sci)
AP US History/ IB History of the Americas
AP Enviro Sci
IB Spanish 4

I plan on taking HL: Physics, Math, History, and English
SL: Spanish and Psych (or Comp Sci)

My teacher for Physics and Math right now will be my Math and Physics teacher for the next 2 years. He also teaches Computer Science. He is insanely smart, but he kinda sucks at teaching so I don’t know if I want him three times a day. But Computer Science really fascinates me so I’m kinda on the fence about it.

Okay so do you guys know what prep books I should get for IB? Now that I’m done with AP it seems like I dont have anything to do and a lot of free time so I wanna focus on IB. Next year, Im taking:
IB English 1 HL
IB TOK
IB Biology 1 HL
IB History 1 HL
IB Math SL
IB Physics SL/ IB Chemistry SL (one of these not sure which)
Honors French 4 (SL on senior year)
hmu if u guys know any good books

@Giovuhnni honestly I’d just get AP books like AP biology textbook because the curriculum is pretty much the same for sciences, history idk because ib has more international stuff so maybe just use Wikipedia or something

Semester 1: Concert Choir, Honors Pre-Calculus, Phy Ed, AP Stats, Chem, Anatomy and Physiology

Semester 2: Concert Choir, Honors Trig, AP Stats, Chem, AP Gov, AP English Language

The reason why some classes repeat is certain classes are 1 period, others are 2 periods. Phy Ed and Anatomy are 2 periods, and so are Gov and English.

@Giovuhnni I’m doing the IB too! I don’t know how they do IB at your school, but I wouldn’t recommend getting the AP prep book – some of the syllabi are pretty different, actually! The main ones I can think of are Math HL and Calc BC; even though they’re equivalent courses, HL covers some topics not covered by BC and vice versa.

A common book to get for the IB are textbooks by Cambridge/Pearson/Haese (for math) and doing a ton of practice papers from question banks online.

My school only has like 13000 people so it’s kinda small. They used to put Ap calc BC and IB Math HL in one class but apparently it wasn’t working out for both things so they took it out. that’s why i can’t do math as an HL, they don’t offer it anymore. people at my school usually take Math studies and then Math SL senior year so there aren’t enough people taking Math HL to make it into a class. But yeah the curriculum must be different.

Who is taking the AP Euro exam on the 12th? I’m so nervous :-/

I’m taking AP World on the 11th and I’m so unprepared:))

AP Calc tomorrow!

Dude yeah I’m lowkey stressing @IrrationalPepsi
even though it doesn’t seem that hard??? I think you can get almost half the questions wrong and still get a 5 if you don’t tank the FRQs.

@adiacs I’m taking ap world too. I’m unprepared but really sure I’ll pass

@OMPursuit, I feel very well prepared. We practiced FRQ for six weeks, and the problems are practically the same across the board.

I’m also taking AP Euro, I’m a little freaked out but ok.

TFW you’re waiting for your potato to cool down

How are we almost juniors? Literally what happened to sophomore year.

Yeah what even
I am not ready to apply for college :frowning:

Yeah exactly like the current juniors can only be juniors in my mind - I can’t imagine them as seniors. And us as juniors? SATs, APs, college application prep, so much to do. I only have 10 days left of school! I’ll miss all my classes, especially Calc, Spanish, and Honors Chem :frowning:

Same here – can’t believe it’s almost time for the summer! I’ll be going to a summer camp (woohoo, so excited) and then I’ll be moving schools for the IB, so it’s going to be a busy few months, but I’m personally really excited! Probably going to miss the people in my current school though… I’ll probably miss Chem and English a lot

y’all talking about SATs, APs, and college app prep and I’m already doing 'em :-S
I am not ready for senior life

I should do some PSAT/SAT prep bc I’m not satisfied with my 1450 SAT (may not get the in-state scholarship)…

A+ in my stats class  Still waiting on French but it should also be A+
