High School Class of 2019

Here’s my schedule, after changing my first period to an easier class, what with my job and everything.

AP Art History
Honors Precalculus
AP US History
AP Bio (4th and 5th period)
AP English III
AP Spanish IV

My schedule seems so easy compared to the rest of you guys! My school sucks bc we can’t take AP classes instead of honors for sciences, I’d have to wait a year :frowning:

APUSH
AP Physics
AP Calc AB
H. Chem
Culinary Arts
Band
Jazz
English 101 @ cc

I found out my schedule at the end of the last school year, but here it is anyways:

A Day:

PLTW Principles of Engineering
PLTW AP Computer Science Principles
French 2
AP Calculus

B Day:

AP Physics 1
AP US History
Band
AP English Language & Composition

My school does block scheduling so we have ~90 minute periods with there being 4 each day, and we alternate between A and B days.

I already took AP Computer Science A so Principles is just a fun course for me, but there are some other reasons why. I want to get a recommendation letter from the engineering teacher (who I will have had for freshman, junior, and senior years). The class is next door (like literally there’s a connecting door) to Principles of Engineering, plus there is the PLTW credit.

French 2 will actually be an independent study, which means that while it is almost like a free period, I have to collect work from the actual teacher (who I had this past year for French 1) but I do it in the independent study classroom during A3. I had actually taken Spanish throughout middle school and freshman year, but they made me redo Spanish 2 in high school (not because of grades but because of full classes) after taking it in 8th grade. I also didn’t like the teacher that much, so I just decided to switch to French.

I’m actually pretty excited about my B day classes because one of my good friends is in all of them. Only downside is that just two classes on that day, APUSH and AP English, produce more homework than the rest of my classes combined. Benefit of my school’s schedule is that we get an extra day to do our homework.

Edit: Forgot to mention that my school has one generic AP Calculus class, where the teacher (who happens to be one of my favorites) teaches the AB material well but rushes through the BC material. I will take the BC exam, but I’m going to have to put in extra work to learn AB faster than the rest of the class and get a head start on BC material.

My schedule is:

Honors precal
Debate 1
SAT prep class
AP Psychology
AP Physics 1
AP Physics 2
APUSH
AP Eng lang
Student Council class (they force all the officers to take it)

I don’t know if this is rigorous or hard. If y’all have any suggestions about what other classes to take, I’d like to hear.

I’ve decided to take IB in addition to 2 dual enrollment courses and an online class so my schedule is:
H Spanish 4
IB Chemistry SL
IB Biology HL
IB English HL
IB Psychology SL
IB History HL
TOK
+
Multivariable Calculus/Differential Calculus
AP Art History (online)

New school, new schedule!

AP Physics C
Accelerated Chinese I
APUSH
AP Lang and Comp
Honors Multivariable Calculus @ IU-B
Drawing 3
Advanced Choir: Show choir

this is basically my dream schedule
i am at peace

there are some academic labs in there but they’re just releases for my calc class, which meets every day :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey '19ers! Just a '18er here with some pretty cool info for interested STEM-loving juniors from Virginia! The Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars program and Virginia Earth System Science Scholars Program apps are now up online. These programs are funded by NASA and would allow you to take a FREE college class in Earth System Science or Aerospace Science and a chance to be selected for a summer academy at the NASA Langley Research Center. If you guys want to apply and learn more about the programs, these are the links!

VASTS: https://spacegrant.net/apps/?pk=vasts
http://vsgc.odu.edu/VASTS/

VESSS: http://vsgc.odu.edu/VESSS/
https://spacegrant.net/apps/?pk=vesss

Don’t hesitate to PM me with questions. I’m a VESSS program alum and have already applied to be a VASTS scholar this year. Theses programs aren’t meant to be selective, but are meant to be a high school to NASA STEM career pipeline, so as long as you have a 2.7 GPA and can write a pretty good essay, you’re in! Hope I’ll see some of you at the VASTS Summer Academy!

Lol my school starts super early, we’re in our second week next week. Already have a ton of homework, and two tests next week. I have no study period, so I’m taking 9 classes (one online.) My intro to CS class (which I’ve already taken, this is the STEM version tho) is based of a GRADUATE level course, so it’s completely different than the one I took before. I didn’t expect that at all.

So I’m basically taking three college classes (2 AP, one DE at a CC online), a class based off of a graduate level class, and the two hardest honors classes in my school. RIP. (While doubling up on my science AND math.) I’m in the STEM program as well, so our work tends to be harder.

They weren’t lying when they said that junior year is REALLY hard. I’m in STEM though, so must people who aren’t in STEM who are “academically inclined” are taking 4 APs, and took two last year.
This is my first year taking APs, but I’ve taken 2 DE classes at a local CC (one during the summer semester though), so I’m not sure how I stack up to everyone else.

As you can tell, my district is VERY competitive. I am SO glad our school doesn’t rank.

I’m really nervous about how I’m going to get by without a study period and having classes back to back. This is by far the hardest schedule I have ever taken. Is anyone willing to give me advice?

Schedule:
Advanced Engineering (third year engineeing course)
English 11
Spanish 3
Intro to Computer Science (based off grad course)
Honors Chemistry
Honors Precalculus
AP Physics 1
AP Computer Science A
Government @ local CC online

my junior year schedule

Bio Honors
Algebra 2 cp
pre calc cp (summer school)
gym (required)
AP English 11
AP art history
Spanish 3 cp
USH 2 Honors

and im gonna ask my gc to take biochem online or at local cc because I already know most of it

Yay! Y’all are taking on so much stuff.

@equationlover Just stay ahead of your homework and assignments. Don’t procrastinate. Utilize your weekends to get as much done for the week ahead as possible.

Junior Year Schedule-
American Lit
Spanish 4 Honors
Advanced Algebra and trig (honors)
APUSH
AP psychology
Chemistry
And a class where you write your college essays and the teachers will edit/ intro to AP GOV (half year courses)

My junior year schedule:

AP Music Theory
AP Lang
Spanish 4H
Concert Choir
Precalc H
AP US History
Physics R

I hope I’ll be able to do well this year

@equationlover If you don’t think you can handle it (I definitely couldn’t!) then I would recommend dropping the Intro to CompSci course for free period where you could study for your other classes.

Scheduling tomorrow!

@TN034154 thats really interesting that you take bio junior year in your school! I always felt it should be physics first to learn the non-matter thingies, chemistry second to learn the tiny-matter thingies, and bio third for the big matter thingies haha. hope you don’t mind me asking (and I hope this doesn’t sound too snarky or condescending) but if you already know most of biochem, why are you taking the class online/at a cc?

@neophite Im not taking it yet but I want to bc i self studied it and I have taken exams/ helped my cousin who is in college w her hw and its easy for me and I want to take it and this time get credit for it. and my schools normal pathway is physics, chem, and bio, the other pathways are made for people who are more/less advanced

Yay, no scheduling issues this year:

APUSH
Pre-Calculus H
AP Bio
AP Lang
French 4
XC/Track

My school is against AP classes (and grades and GPAs and state-standardized tests), so my schedule might look a bit weird:

Political History of the Nuclear Age
Literature and Politics in the 20th Century
Calculus 1
Mathematical Chemistry
Microbiology
Physics of Consciousness
Spanish 4
Inward Bound 1
Debate and Rhetoric
Science Research Techniques
American Dissent
Student Technology Internship

I have to be in school at 8:35am and get out at 6pm. I’m pretty happy with the schedule though.

@WCEdmonds Your school sounds pretty awesome.
