High School Class of 2019

What are you guys doing to study? I’ve just been using Khan Academy.

I have been using the College Panda Math Prep Book and Erica Meltzer’s Critical Reader books, as well as have continued to go to my SAT prep program every week for practice tests and workshops. Khan Academy for me seems to be good at supplying problems, but not efficient solutions, so I go there less nowadays.

I am just doing Khan Academy and a semi-legal version of Erica Meltzer ($34, c’mon)

Anyone here from Texas? It’s been heating up here recently, at least in DFW.

Checked out Erica Meltzer’s website and what’s available for the reading section is very helpful. I don’t think I’ll spend the money to buy the book though…

@shaneyboy123 I would recommend getting the book, as she is about to release a 3rd edition for the critical reader, making the second edition (the one I have) cheaper at places like Amazon. I look at her website a lot for tips, but it seems like she hasn’t made many updates to her blog regarding the new SAT. If anything, buy the reading book but not her writing book. You can always look up grammar tips online!

I’m switching online schools for the next school year and I’m so happy - this school has way more honors and AP courses than my last school offered, plus they offer the language I want to take (Latin).

I’m really getting my fall extracurriculars/other activities planned out and it feels great - I love being a busybody tbh. I’m also so glad since the start of this year I’ve really been finding myself and figuring out what I want to do in terms of school, college, and my life as a whole.

I really wanted to get a job this fall but between school, extracurriculars, and sports I have no idea when I’d find time for it. I’ll probably wind up just doing seasonal jobs.

Is anyone planning on buying AP books now/before school starts?

Haven’t posted since the last day of school. Summer’s been going great. Great cross country practices, had a fun trip to Spain, have an altitude running camp next week, been going to the beach with friends every other day (sunburns…). Procrastinating on AP summer work like always…

I want to major in engineering. I worry my schedule looks too “fluffy” + all over the place.

I haven’t been on here for god knows how long so welcome to everyone i have yet to meet
@palinoia I dont think it looks fluffy, you for sure have a lot of engineering related courses in there so you should be good.

@neophite Thanks! I was really worried that it would look weird because I haven’t and I am not taking science classes like AP Biology and Chemistry(during junior year) while others at my high school are.

Got my schedule! I’m missing a fourth period first semester.

S1
-AP Biology Prep
-English 3 HNRS (AP Lang didn’t make it :()
-AP US History Prep
-AP Calc BC or Calc II at community college???

S2
-AP Biology
-Spanish 2
-AP Human Geography
-AP US History

It’s kinda weird to me, but I am happy with it.

I’m going to take the Math II Subject test later this month and I’m planning on taking the SAT either in October or November and retaking it (if necessary) in December. I’m probably going to take the Chemistry Subject test in June after IB testing.

This year I will be taking

APUSH
AP Spanish Lang
Dual Credit Biology
Dual Credit English
Dual Credit College Algebra
Advanced Mixed Choir
Vet Med Applications
Online Precalculus and Trig

I also plan to self study for the AP Environmental Science exam

How can I take online classes and get high school credit from them? I’ve seen a few people say they are doing it, but I never knew about it.

@TN034154 You should talk with your guidance counselor to see where your school district accepts online classes as high school credits and whether there are any restrictions such as the source of the online class or if your state or county has free online classes available for credit.

  • Pre Calc H
