Also, how do Gov Schools compare to other summer programs?

When should we start looking into colleges? I feel it is still too early now.

I don’t have a senior schedule 'cause I’m graduating a year early. Gotta complete frosh orientation to register for my classes.

@CharlotteLetter nice! R u applying to colleges and doing the usual senior stuff

@MangoLover11223 I only applied to my state flagship where I’m dual credit and have tuition + fees + part of books and may get a higher award, so I’m not applying anywhere else. Otherwise I’m just doing regular choir, Civil Air Patrol, and school stuff obviously. This is my first semester taking a full college load though.

@CharlotteLetter hope your first “full college load semester” has been going well for you so far! This is my first semester taking onsite classes at a local CC, as all of my DE classes have been online up until now, so I’m sorta in the same boat as you! What college classes are you taking?

I’m taking cultural anthropology and physical geology online at the CC and Intermediate French 1 (3rd semester), Analysis of Variance and Design, and Statistical Inference at the state flagship. The first 2 are my last gen eds and the last 2 are the last 2 courses of my stats major. French is a prerequisite for a prerequisite for the first course of my French minor. It’s been going well  How do you like regular DE classes?

Sounds awesone! I am also taking Anthropology and it is an awesome class! Such interesting material. I’ve been enjoying my classes so far. Other than Anthro (which I take online), I have Modern Western Civilization, Mythology, and Philosophy. Awesome how far you are with your college education already! Best of luck.

AP Calc BC
AP Lit
AP Econ Macro/Micro (They offer Macro first semester, micro second)
AP Biology
Newspaper

For my 6th class, I’m debating between AP French and AP US Govt/Comp Govt, I think AP French is the safer choice in terms of college acceptances but I kind of want to take AP US/Comp…

EDIT

Oh yes, I wanted to ask y’all, are you guys taking any online college courses during senior year?

@kungfukenny what does “safer in terms of college acceptances” even mean? All AP classes are weighted equally and it’s kinda sad to see people only be motivated to take classes for college.
So it because you want to not because you have to.

@MangoLover11223 Taking 4 years of a language is probably safer than taking only 3.

yea id rather take us/comp govt, but my family is also pressuring me so idk, im happy i do the ECs because i love them and not because my parents calculated it for me, but they rlly want me to do AP french instead of us/comp so thats mainly why im in contention

is anyone else taking finals this week? they start tomorrow for me

My senior schedule should look something like this:

  • AP Lit
  • AP Gov
  • AP Chem (plus a period for lab)
  • AP European History/ Psychology (not sure which right now)
  • AP Calc AB (though I might not take it at all because I’m worried I’ll do poorly in the class)
  • CE Criminal Law/ CE Law Enf. (it’s a two period class so if you take one you have to take the other)

Hey everyone, Class of '18er here.

Just thought I’d plug you all with a program that half or more of you might find useful. Its called Matriculate, a college access program that pairs you with a student that attends Yale, Princeton, Columbia, or other similar tier institutions. They help guide you through the college application process- encompassing everything from selecting schools to essay editing to negotiating financial aid at the schools to which you are admitted. Its entirely online and obligation free, the best part is the automatic $400 in scholarships you get for applying to four schools.

The only qualifications are that you have a 3.5+ GPA and a 90th %ile test score and have a family income of under $80k, but even these qualifications are rough guidelines for applicants.

Feel free to check out their mission at: http://www.matriculate.org/about-matriculate/

And apply at: http://www.matriculate.org/college/ by submitting your high school fellow interest form. It takes like 10 min max if I remember correctly.

I wish you all the best on your college searches,
