High School Class of 2019

@FreePariah that program sounds cool! Just wondering, is it the first year of the program? Do we need teacher Recs or a

@MangoLover11223 You don’t need teacher recs or an essay if I am remembering correctly. I think the only thing you need is to fill out the form, which is pretty straightforward. As far as I am aware, their admission process is something like a first come first serve type thing, so I would sign up quickly!

As to how new the program is… I believe it is relatively new, started in around 2014. I’m an alum and I know it started at least a few years before I first did it.

ahhh semester grades just finalized, got straight As somehow (a month ago i was almost guaranteed to get a B in two classes) so a 4.8 weighted and 4.0 unweighted gpa!!

Just signed up for the following courses:
AP Lit
AP gov
AP computer science
AP economics
AP physics
Advanced biology (basically AP bio)

Hopefully these will all fit into my schedule

I’m new to this chat but here’s my senior schedule:

does anyone happen to know any summer programs regarding government/ international affairs, law, history, or language? I’m having a hard time finding one that isn’t thousands of dollars. And it’s getting closer and closer to senior year and I want to make sure my ECs are adequate, and I would also love to actually enjoy a program in my fields of interest. Thank you!

Hey all! I’m a junior, but I’m graduating early and I got the Regents scholarship at UNM! It’s essentially a full ride. I do NOT have perfect stats or anything especially amazing. Here is my summary of my qualifications for the scholarship http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/21193570#Comment_21193570.

If you’re looking for a full ride and don’t have a highly specialized major (no aerospace engineering) maybe look at UNM. Their language department is really good (I’m minoring there), and I hear their theatre and film offerings are excellent. There are many opportunities for undergraduate research in math & stats. There are likely many more great departments, but I’m majoring in math/stats and minoring in French, so I don’t really have experience. UNM has full rides for Regents Scholars (competitive; application deadline 1 December) and NMF, as well as various scholarships based on stats for waiving or reducing OOS tuition. If you’re a STEM major, there are also local paid summer internship opportunities (if you’re non-STEM, there likely are as well; I just haven’t looked for them).

I totally agree with @FreePariah ! Matriculate has been a godsend!

Also, the free CMU Artificial Intelligence program application, for rising juniors and seniors, is up! Go ahead and apply here: https://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/access-artificial-intelligence

Oof, you can tell how hard we’re grinding out junior year with how dead this thread is.

Scheduling time!

Planning on taking US Govt/Econ over the summer. Our school has a notoriously annoying service and civil involvement project over those classes. Obviously won’t look as competitive to colleges, but I think I’ll be fine in regards to the schools I’m applying to.

In addition to that:

AP Enviro
AP Calc AB
AP Lit
Ceramics (art required for UCs…)
TA/Class Aide is my “blowoff” class

@batman0309 Apply for Boys/Girls State! It’s through the American Legion and they pay for almost everything.

Hi everyone! I’m new here! I’m so nervous for the college process next year!!!

AP Economics
AP Government
AP Calculus AB
AP Human Geography
AP Environmental Science
French 4
English 4
Virtual Enterprise/ Business & Marketing
Unscheduled

my senior sched!

AP Micro/Macro
AP Gov
Multivar
Orgo
Modern Phys
AP Lit

Dealing with extreme family drama which has since extended to involve my teachers and guidance counsellors over my eligibility to continue with the IB Diploma Program. I’ve already made it this far, and - as evident from my username - it has become such a significant aspect of my identity that I cannot imagine any other pathway.

It’s really such a bummer; I had always been an above-average student, academically speaking, but life simply isn’t working out at a time when I most need it to. Past week has consisted of endless breakdowns on top of my regular anxiety issues - just what I needed for my SATs this weekend! Woohoo!

I hope SATs went well for you guys!

New here! Senior year schedule:

AP Physics 1
AP Spanish Language
AP Calculus AB
Speech/Debate
English IV Honors (school doesn’t offer AP Lit… trying to see if I can take online or something)
Personal Finance (required at my school :expressionless: )

My schedule is super weak with only 3 APs but these reflect the most rigorous classes at my (small) charter school.

Your schedule isn’t weak at all. 3 APs is plenty rigorous!

hey guys, I have a dilemma. So should I take AP stats or AP Calc? I’m going to be a senior right now and I was torn between which math classes to take. I currently have pre-calculus right now and the teacher that teaches AP Calc also teaches my pre-calculus class. He is a really good teacher and I learn a lot in his class but however, his class is very difficult. In my class, only about 5 people have A’s and I currently have a high B (89%). I feel like I should take Calc because it would look good on my application but however, everybody in the AP Calc class has been advising me against it. A lot of them have C’s but there is a few B’s and maybe like 3 A’s. His class is really hard but everyone passes the exam. I want to take it but my current UW junior GPA is a 3.9 and I feel like getting a C will kill it. Also, apparently AP stats is an easy A class at my school. Also, math is not one of my strengths so I don’t know. I want to major in pre-med in college btw.

@plants I can’t speak for your school, but my school is the same in terms of no one doing well in AP calc. I think it is an important class, though, and would probably look good for premed. I am in AP calc right now and it is def the lowest grade I have ever had, but I really enjoy the content.

Ahhhh a bunch of my friends are getting into Ivys and other schools today which is super exciting but also so terrifying. I feel like us hearing back is so soon and so far away at the same time agh
