High School Class of 2019

@potatoepotatoe @simberry2 Thank you both for the great advice! It really sucks leaving everything I’ve built up here, but it’s not the end of the world by any means. The schedule that I posted above has already changed some due to conflicting graduation requirements lol (which is very frustrating). Like @potatoepotatoe said, I’ll try to use this situation to my advantage.

@borromini i completely understand the struggle of moving as i’ve had to do so countless times it’s definitely not the most fun especially when you’ve built up a lot of extracurriculars and have to move :frowning: i had to move across the country in the middle of my junior year to my third high school and it was definitely a struggle especially since my new school didn’t offer a lot of the classes i had originally taken… but in the end, i truly believe that everything happens for a reason you’ll find out why you were meant to move and experience great things! don’t give up yet!! also i can totally relate to the whole PE thing they require we take it every single year of hs which is a lil ridiculous @simberry2

This year, the Math Department decided to let juniors in pre-calculus skip over to Calc BC instead of taking AB. I think I’m gonna do it!

@literallyliteral That’s what I did this year! The AB material is basically the first semester of Calc BC, with some BC stuff included at the end. :)>-

@potatoepotatoe Yeah, I thought the same thing. What sucks even more is that they have only FOUR gym classes to choose from. Personally, I think we should be able to have more options if we’re going to have four years of gym. Plus, I think four years of gym is unnecessary and should be cut down to at least one year. Luckily though, I don’t have to take the years I missed. In addition, I also missed freshman and sophomore year health courses, both of which were required if you didn’t move, but had to take junior year health as that was required for all juniors.

I am a rising college freshman and offer peer academic/admissions counseling. PM for info!!

Hey guys, I’m new here and just found this thread. Here’s my senior year courseload:

Mythology Folklore / Literature
US Government / Economics
PE Weights (Dust off the PE credits)
Principles of Engineering
AP Statistics (finished Calculus BC this year, so nothing more rigorous to take)
AP Chemistry (toughest class since I’m jumping from AP Physics C: Mechanics to this class without much background)

My courseload is nowhere near as tough of some of you guys…taking 4 APs this year gave me some serious trauma in addition to health complications, so I’m taking it easier next year in anticipation of college admissions essay writing, etc. as well.

@mundyt Welcome! That’s a good idea to take the classes you are planned to then! Remember that everyone is unique and is better at different things, so especially on CC, (however tempting it may be) it may not be healthy to compare yourself with others. I am also trying to go lighter on the course load to have enough time for college applications. Also, PE Weights? Never heard of a class like that before.

@potatoepotatoe It’s just a Physical Education class option you can choose that focuses more on weight training (so yes, lifting weights is one of them).

Hi everyone! Pretty new here but here’s my senior year schedule

AP Word History
AP Statistics
AP Environmental Science
AP Spanish Literature and Culture
AP English Literature and Culture
Calc H
Gym (nooo)

Hello everybody!
For my senior schedule, all I have planned to take at school is my tech and AP Bio. Otherwise, I plan on dual enrolling the following classes at my local CC:
A History of Genocide
German II
International Relations
Statistical Methods (currently trying to find a higher stats class to take after this)
Macroeconomics
Speech (maybe, if I decide to get my AA degree)
Microeconomics (maybe)
Ancient Western Civilization (was planning on doing AP euro, but since I already took modern western civ at CC (covers 1700-present), it would be best to just take the earlier period at CC instead)

how do you do, fellow kids

Any of the old guard still on here?

Also, next year:
AP Lit
AP Calc BC
APES
AP US (?) Gov and AP Micro (combined into some weird single class period, but alternating classes on alternating days, I think.)
AP Physics C
AP Computer Science A

tfw people are starting to get out and you still have 27 days left

tfw you’ve been out for a week

My schedule next year:
AP English Lit
AP Physics I
AP Physics II
AP Spanish Lang
AP Calc BC
AP Comp Sci Principles
Art Foundations (stupid requirement)

I just got an email from Pomona about their fly-in program… little salty that I haven’t been asked to apply to Rice SOAR, LOL.
Anybody else gotten that email? I figure I might apply just for the heck of it…

@awesomepolyglot I also got that email haha

Like… I’m white, upper middle class, both parents have bachelor’s degrees… and they don’t have a way of knowing the one diversity-friendly thing about me, unless they’re thinking girls in STEM. (Which is not the thing I’m thinking of.)

Is anyone doing cool things this summer?? I’m moving so my family canceled our vacation, but if anyone is doing anything really interesting you should mention it (:

I’m at TN’s Governor School for Computational Physics right now! I’m pretty sure my roommate and I are almost the same person, LOL.
