High School Global Scholars Program

My daughter’s school has a new Global Scholars Program for students, and it is an intense program where they have to fulfill specific requirements within certain disciplines (i.e. economics, language, arts, history, math, science) and spend 2 weeks abroad, as well as present a portfolio at the end of senior year. It is begun in sophomore year, after you write a specific mission statement and then the school will decide whether or not you can become a candidate. Some students do the math/science program and others global issues/international relations. They have an advisor throughout the 3 years. Has anyone done this kind of program while in high school, and if so, was it valuable in the college admissions process?
