High School Internships that will pay a little to justify not working at a grocery store all summer

I am about to go to college next year for Aerospace Engineering and I am wondering if there are any internships that would somewhat expose me to a possible career path I could take in the future. I realize that I will not contribute anything to anyone because I don’t even know engineering yet but I would also prefer not working long hours at a grocery store.

I know NASA has high school internships but I only found Fall 2017 opportunities. I assume the Summer 2017 deadlines have already passed and I do not know where else to look for possible internships.

Please help me avoid the grocery store for the summer.

My kids worked at jobs like that the summer before college to earn money for school. Getting paid internships at your age is tough.

Even getting unpaid internship in high school is very hard to get. If luckily someone gets a paid internship, the cost of living in a different city plus other expanses makes is probhitive enough on dollars and cents basis. If you love the field, try to get unpaid internship and show your motivation
