High School Junior here, Help

Alright, so I’m worried about college.

I got all A’s and B’s my freshman and sophomore year with the acception of a C final in chemistry (I’m not in anyway interested in going into sciences by the way)

I’m in Mock Trial, Model UN (won two awards at my first conference), vice president of the Academic Team, the Fall Play, Stage Crew, Marching Band, Concert band, I’ve done internships for the last two summers (one was at a theater camp and another was at my town’s local TV studio.)

I’m in all honors/AP classes with the exception of Physics (like I said, not into the whole mathematical science deal) I stopped taking French after two years because it wasn’t a strong subject for me. Instead I took up journalism, which is a real passion. I love writing.

Class rank is 48/465

Is there anything I can do furthermore to up my chances of getting into a good school? My dream school is Columbia or Brown but I’m definitely interested in Emerson, BU, Northeastern and NYC as well.

Please help me, my parents are really touchy about college and just I could use some help trying to figure out where to aim in order to get into a good school.

You need to bring your class rank up, so get solid grades this year. And you need strong scores(SAT=2100+, SAT II=700+). These scores won’t help you in admissions, but they are high enough to keep you from getting rejected. And develop your interest in writing through activites and awards. Just stay focused on school this year. Good luck!

I don’t know what hawkphoenix meant by “these scores won’t help you in admissions, but they are high enough to keep you from getting rejected”.

It’s never too late to hunker down and improve your resume. The key is to pace yourself and start IMMEDIATELY. Make sure you get leadership in some more clubs and treat every test like it is a must-have A.

If you have the talent, but not the stats, the easiest way to show how smart you really are is by acing the SAT’s.

Also I’m working with another girl on getting a Junior Statesmen club at our school. Oh and I’m applying for the NJ Governor’s School this summer. I’m not quite sure what my chances are of getting into that, but we’ll see.

bumpity bump bump
