High School Regents Exams

Hey Everyone, Im a little confused about the Regents examination system and how it benefits me.

I was wondering if my performance on these exams determines whether or not I get into an AP class, along with having good grades.

Thanks in advance

If you attend high school in NYS, you will have to pass the NYS regents exams in order to graduate from high school.

Yes, performance on these exams can and at some schools will determine whether or not you get placed in AP courses. The minimum grade on the regents is an 85 for AP consideration.

Regents play a role in determining whether you get into an AP, but what matters most is if your previous teacher recommends you into it. They are the ones who put you into an AP class by looking at your regents and class grades.

Not at my school.

It depends on how many seats are available and how many students sign up for the class. It goes by student’s transcript grades from the prior class (doesn’t matter if it is AP or not) from both the fall and spring semesters. Highest grades and so forth, until the seats are filled.

Ok! That sounds fair enough.
