Hi everybody,
I’m a rising senior and I have about another week to change my schedule for the upcoming year. So far, I will be taking these courses :
AP Literature
AP Calculus BC
AP Government
Journalism 2 (taught second period, I’m In-Chief)
French 5

My school is on a trimester system, and I have two trimesters to fill.
I am signed up and enrolled in British literature (2 tris), mainly because I love English and it’s taught by my favorite teacher (this is his last year before retiring, he has taught for about 40 years and I had him for Honors Humanities).

I received a tentative schedule today, only to realize that my Journalism advisor is teaching Brit Lit this year, as well. There is nothing wrong with my advisor, I just really wouldn’t want to have two classes taught by the same teacher- especially when it’s the other teacher’s last year at my school. His classroom is my haven, and he is so enthusiastic about his work. I am unable to switch into his class because it is only taught during 2nd period journalism. Regardless, I will probably end up taking British literature in college.

My second option would be to take Expository Reading/Writing, a college-prep course with much more in-class work (as opposed to assigned reading). That’s taught by my AP Language teacher; I am going to ask her for a letter of rec as she recognizes my interest in English more than any other teacher.

I really had my hopes up for BritLit, and I would love to have it as a class regardless of the teacher. However, I feel that Expos would be more helpful and less homework-heavy. Has anyone taken these courses before? Which would you recommend in regards to subject matter?
