High School Student In Need Of Urgent Help

I have read some of these posts and I like some of the answers that people have posted so I tought I would give it a try. Anyways, I am a student, currently a Sophmore in Sugar Land, TX. My Freshman year was a disater, I was stuck with a dyslexic English teacher and had other peoblems. I got a 2.4 GPA out of a possible 4.0. Sophmore year is probably in the mid-low 2.0s to the low 3.0s. My junior and senior year are left and I plan to push myself and study day and night. Hopefully, I will do good on the SATs or ACTs.

Heres my queston, according to what I have told you, do you belive an Ivy League or Big Ten school is out-of-the-queston? Also, what can I do to improve my GPA, I tried tutoring but it didn’t help. What should I do?

Classes I took in high school thus far…

FRESHMAN YEAR:

English, Spanish 2 (Dropped Out), World Geography, Football, Biology, Speech, Algebra 1, and half of Art 1 in summer school.

SOPHMORE YEAR:

Algebra 2, Geometry, English 2, Chemistry, Health Science Technology Education (A pre-medical prep class), World History, and Spanish 2 (Finally Im passing it!)

ALL HELP WILL BE MUCH NEEDED AND APPERICITAED!

Study, that is what you can do to raise your GPA. You must push yourself to get the grades you really want. You might come across those few classes in which you just can’t get A’s in, but you still have to at least try. As for the ACT or SAT, find out which is the better test for you. Take some practice tests and see which test you are more comfortable with. If your particulary good at literature and english go for the SAT. If your about the same in all areas go for the ACT. A large number of people will tell you the ACT is the better test, because it measures “intelligence”. Do a lot of volunteer work, join more sports and clubs. Try to get active. Colleges really want to see devotion to something. That will boost your chances for sure. Just try basically, if you really want to make it you have to apply yourself. If you apply yourself you can make it.
