My high school junior is looking for housing in Cambridge (preferable at or related to MIT) for 4 to 6 weeks this summer. I see there was a similar post on this topic in 2009; I wonder if things have changed - that the solution exists?

I was probably the OP for that 2009 thread. In Cambridge you can try summer dorm housing at Lesley University. [Student Life and Academic Development](Information for Students | Lesley University) It’s about a 10 minute walk into Harvard Sq. to catch the Red line to Kendall Sq. (2 stops) where MIT is located.

Only other alternative that I know of is to try the MIT fraternities.

Last summer, my D’s bf at MIT made housing arrangements at a fraternity. Then at the last minute his job fell through so he went home instead. He tried to find someone else to sublet but was unsuccessful. I don’t know if there are any restrictions to living at a fraternity - if a hs student would be allowed?

I assume you’ve already explored the MIT website; there are links to some possible housing (including Lesley):

many thanks!!

A number of these fraternities are not located on the MIT campus and would require a commute on the MBTA. Just so you know this ahead of time and can inquire. I hope you have better luck than I did with getting the frats to return messages/emails. :)

Thanks for the head’s up. I’ll let you know if it all works. (I know most are across the river, and that’s not generally going to be a problem for us.)
