High School Summer Programs

So right now, I am a rising junior in a (relatively competitive) public high school, if it matters.

Is there mcuh power in attending a, say an Ivy League, high school summer program this summer?

If so, which college offers the best or most recognized?

If anyone’s made a list or something, could someone recommend me a college that offers a goo high school summer program in Texas? I want to attend the program that Rice offers but the classes are on a day basis (no room and board). I currently live in California, so room and board is a must out of state (and Bay Area).

The best, most widely recognized, and most fulfilling summer programs by popular concensus are usually those that are free of charge (or very low charge) to all attending as well as having very selective admission processes. The summer programs at colleges where you get in on an ability-to-pay basis can offer wonderful summer experiences, but I don’t see any “power” at all in being able to attend them.

You can find lists of highly well regarded summer programs in the summer program forum. There should be stickied threads at the top with comprehensive lists. If you are rising junior, do the research now and see if any interests you, because the application deadlines for these programs come up really soon.
