I just finished my Sophomore year and I’d say I’m pretty happy with the way my grades turned out, despite a hiccup or two I managed an improvement over Freshman year, which I’ve been told looks good as an “upward trend”. I’d just like some input on my High School career so far from the perspective of college admissions because most of the places I’m interested in are pretty selective. Boston U, Wesleyan, and USC are some examples of what I would hope to be target schools. My Transcript so far is:

My course load will continue along the same path through next year, with Physics AP being the science, except I am adding AP Gov as an elective and taking Health & Gym online to fit it. My unweighted GPA averages out just above a 3.75 right now while my weighted is a 6.5 out of 7 (it’s weird), but for some perspective that weighted GPA puts me around #10 in class ranking out of 320 or so students.
As far as EC’s go, I play soccer, and over the last year I’ve gotten really into Broadcasting, which I plan to take as an elective every year. I also did DECA, which I made it to the state competition for, but unfortunately I won’t qualify for membership next year because I can’t fit a business class into my schedule due to conflict. I’m also on a Principal’s Advisory Committee along with 10 other kids in which we’ve been working with the Principal and Student Activities coordinator on an overhaul to the School Spirit week, among other things. Lastly, I’m on Spanish Honors Society since this year and will be eligible for National Honors Society next year. Of all these, I would say only Soccer, Broadcasting, and increasingly my work with the Principal are serious time commitments, I don’t want to give the impression of spreading myself thin.
One thing I would definitely like advice on: I essentially traded my DECA membership for AP Government, that’s what caused me not to be able to take a business class. Do you think DECA is a valuable enough EC that I should reconsider my choice? I enjoyed it but I also think I’ll enjoy Gov so it’s not an easy decision. Other than that, I’m just looking for general feedback. Are my grades and EC’s good enough as of right now? What needs the most improvement? ect.
