Hello everyone, i created this thread to discuss paying for prep school in general, feel free to leave a comment

and also another reason why i made this thread was to see if anyone knows any places to find a scholarship for high school itself. i anyone can help me with this, thanks!

I needed FA to attend any boarding school, even as a day student which is about $10,000 less than boarding anyways. Andover gave me about 50% FA which I was overjoyed by, because it made my dream school possible.
Pingree gave me no FA whatsoever, and I also was not accepted in the Pingree Scholars Program, which gives you 75% FA the first year and 33% the next three years.
We were unable to apply to Middlesex for FA because last year their due date for it was January 1st, not the 15th. Apparently they changed that since last year?

yea i wouldnt sweat over that one, andover is amazing especially if you have FA

Andover was my top choice from the start, so it really all worked out for the best.

congrats! haha, as some would say- your life has fit together!

thanks
I feel so incredibly lucky that it worked out in my favor. I can’t wait to start next friday.

Andover has an amazing FA progam. I can personally vouch for it. Phillips made my family an amazing aid offer. They gave us much more money than we anticipated getting. the difference between my andover offer and that from the other school i got into was $10k

You know, I think Ive made up my mind to retake the SSAT and apply for Andover for the rest of my high school years with FA… Ive been thinking about it for a while now because Im stuck with no FA at my school right now and I dont know how everything will turn out.

I am an upcoming sophomore at Peddie, and financial aid was a factor in my admission. It’s hard on any wallet to spend $30,000+ for one year of education. I applied to four schools. One waitlisted me, and one didn’t offer me any financial aid (that school seemed to offer few funds to anyone that year). The other two schools (Stuart Country Day School and Peddie) offered me significant FA (over 50%). From SCDS I received FA as well as a merit scholarship, whereas Peddie only offered FA (that was to be expected, as Peddie has only 1 merit scholarship–I think). In the end, it came down to the convenience of having a sibling at Peddie and the myriad opportunities that come with a traditional boarding school environment that ultimately steered me to Peddie.

40% of Peddie students are on FA.

nice, yea, im deeply regretting not going to with FA. In the end, i ended up going with no boarding schools at all ( over 40k pricey!), but i go to Hopkins now, which is at the level of some of the best boarding schools(my personal opinion, of course,).
