Hello! I’m a current underclassman in high school, and I would really love to attend NYU in 2018. Yet, I don’t know the criteria to get in. I mean, I don’t want to go to the website because it gives you general information. Can someone give me specifics on how I could achieve getting into NYU? Thank you!

Well the website’s about as helpful as it gets. There’s no step-by-step process for getting into college, it’s different for everyone. Get good grades and test scores, do things in your spare time that you’re passionate about and eventually reach high levels of achievement in those things. That’s about it.

Well, #1 if you aren’t willing to go to the website, you probably don’t have interest and dedication to get into NYU. I’m not trying to be snarky, and maybe your post is being misinterpreted…

In addition to the website, I’d say:

You should have a least a 1900 SAT, the higher the better. Really try for 2100+
SAT Subject tests - try to have at least 3 with a score of 700+
ACT - try for a 29 - 31 total. Higher in individual areas if you have a hard/competitive major (bio/pre-health)
Have an ABSOLUTE focus for your ECs. Do not just randomly collect ECs. If you are a potential Pol Sci major then your ECs should be around student government, community contribution, volunteering with a government official, taking summer courses in DC, etc. If your potential major is International Law then your courses should include 3+ years of one foreign language, maybe a 2nd foreign language, micro and macro economics and your ECs should be around “global” issues or activities.

Hey! You said you wanted to attend NYU in 2018, so you must be a freshman. I am a freshman too and I really want to go to NYU!
