<p>Would NEVER buy a home within sight of high tension wires and towers, as well as water towers…aesthics is the secondary reason,health concerns is the 1st(not for water towers)</p>

<p>My aunt used to live in a house that had high tension towers/lines beyond a wooded area behind her house. She ended up with leukemia. Strange thing is that at least two other people on her street were diagnosed with leukemia. Sure, it’s not a scientific study and it could have been a strange coincidence, but it’s enough for me to want to stay away from buying property near them. Her street is not long like a city block. It’s a typical small town street. She has since sold the house and moved south.</p>

<p>My brother died of leukemia also at a very young age. Not saying the power lines we lived (and played around) were the cause, but no way would I live next to them.</p>

<p>I have in recent years have wondered if, the HT lines at the Farm or the wack on my head when I was 5 by my then 11 yo bro (still got the crease in my skull where he wacked me), is the cause for making bad humor. ??</p>

<p>Of course, most ppl will walk if a house is under high tension wire/tower AND the price of the home will be severely affected. But my real questions are:</p>

<ol>
<li>How many feet away from a high tension tower will you be comfortable to buy a house?</li>
<li>If you discover there is an UNDERGROUND high tension wire near the house you are considering, what would be your reaction? and also question #1.</li>

<p>Agree with qdogpa. BTW, how would you know if there are underground HT cables? I would look around for nearby above ground wires - I don’t think that they would have them underground if they were also above-ground.</p>

<p>You have to first find the HT Towers in the outskirt and trace them to see where they have been terminated and then call the utility company, they have a special unit who can answer your questions.</p>
