How much have you increased from one ACT to another…and has anyone actually decreased

forgive me for not having the link at hand, but the ACT web site published these statistics:

upon testing a second time, 55% increase, 22% decrease, and 23% stay the same.

as for me personally, i increased 8 points. december 08: 24 comp. april 09: 32 comp.

people always tell me that it’s a really amazing increase, but i dont think it’s that great. i came into the december test cold as ice, barely even knowing what the subtests were called. im a generally smart kid, so a 24 was pretty soul crushing. i guess i concluded that im not a naturally good test taker, which is why after i spent a lot of time getting to know the test. after doing that, i was able to actually use my brain and get questions right and not be baffled at the test’s format and time constraints. so to sum up, the key for me was just getting to know the test. maybe 8 points still is a big deal, but i think if i were a naturally good test taker, i would have started off on something like a 30 cold and then moved up to my 32.
