Highly educated parents currently unemployed?

Both my parents received graduate degrees. However, they had rough time after completing their education and are temporarily unemployed.

How would colleges think when they look at my application with unemployment and high degree side by side?

And, financial aid does not take education level into account right? Just recent years’ salaries?

Thanks.

FA does not take educational level received into account. Lots of highly educated people are unemployed or underemployed due to economic circumstances. Companies downsize and lay off people all the time. When you fill out FAFSA, it asks questions that can be answered by using your parent’s 1040 tax return.
